Flying Dutchman Airlines - Carde - 08-26-2018 Flying Dutchman Airlines
"From below the sea, to above the clouds. Fly the Jolly Roger Proud."
Flying Dutchman Airlines was founded in 2016 by a group of students from the HVA (Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences) and backed financially by an anonymous patron. The name takes inspiration from The Flying Dutchman a ghost ship myth that has been around for centuries and remains popular thanks to uses in the media and entertainment over the last centuries. Operating several A340-300 and -500 aircraft the focus of Flying Dutchman Airlines is firmly on the long haul routes in direct competition with KLM and indirectly with the other major carriers in North Western Europe. Painted like ships, with a jolly roger on the tail and the engines like cannons they are a stand out at any airport and have quickly become a plane spotter favourite. On the inside things are a bit more standard with the crew in full black uniforms with silver accents and a jolly roger patch on the right arm and the Amsterdam city flag on the left. The cabins themselves are state of the art and rated highly by both critics and consumers alike. They are known to be a full service airline, they sell nothing onboard their planes as everything is included into the tickets including luggage within reason (Economy class 3 bags at max 50KG each and each class higher adds 1 more bag). With their focus on long haul all their planes are outfitted with onboard bars and free wifi which runs through their own servers for VPN encryption. Destinations: ![]() Fleet: ![]() Click on the image for the full size, trust me she is a beauty, much much much thanks to POTKC for his patience and skill in creating this livery, I am not an easy customer. We currently operate 4 Airbus A340-500IGW jets these extreme range planes make the direct flights possible between AMS and SYD. Outfitted to the latest standards with free wifi and bar onboard they make even the longest flights enjoyable. Prefer a little more quiet our business class seats offer excellent privacy and we offer leading In flight entertainment with the best headphones from Sennheiser. We also operate 2 Airbus A340-300 while slightly shorter on her legs she is ideal to connect you to destinations not quite as distant like within North America. They are of course outfitted exactly the same as our A340-500IGWs, just with a couple less seats, cause we don't subscribe to the pack as many into the can as fits. The latest addition to the fleet are 5 Airbus A350-900ULR planes which will greatly expand our routing and we have 15 more on order. The first 5 will fly shorter routes, but longer routes will be added as more planes are delivered. Their configuration mirrors our A340-300, but with the added bonus of a quieter and more comfortable cabin. Command team:
CEO (Chief Executive Officer) – Alicia Dierde deVries ![]() Alicia graduated in Aviation Logistics and forms the backbone of the Flying Dutchman Airlines command team as they call themselves. Internally she is known as commander with the patron of the airline known as the captain of of the command team. A long therm thinker and deal maker Alicia manages to get her way most of the time even when people say it is not possible. She known to have a strong dislike of politics in general stating they simply get in the way of getting things done more often than not. COO (Chief Operating Officer) – Adena Assai ![]() A fellow Aviation Logistics major Adena is known as the XO or second in command though she tends to take care of most the day to day operations as is to be expected in her role. Known to have an exceedingly sharp mind she does not suffer fools or idiots. This tends to be a common trait amongst the command staff however. CFO (Chief Financial Officer) – David Fletcher ![]() If you need some one who can turn a EUR coin into a 500 EUR note overnight you need David Fletcher. This quiet mister is the brain behind all the economics of The Flying Dutchman Airlines. Nothing is spend without his signature on the paper luckily for all he is really quick in figuring out if he wants to sign something and no asking those above him in the chain to speed things up does not work as everyone backs him 100%. CLO (Chief Legal Officer) – Jun’ko Zane ![]() Lawyers are known to be cold, but few serve that dish as icy cold as Jun’ko, she is truly ruthless in using the law as a weapon. It is thanks to her work and that of her team that the business is protected and growing as easily as it does as she battles her way through all the opposition that is being thrown onto their path. Some say the management of Schiphol is very respectful of her abilities after some recent events. CP (Chief Pilot) – Liviana Viaen ![]() The only outsider of the command team Liviana however has fitted in extremely well with her sky high standards and ruthless approach. She is both feared and respected by all the pilots under her wings for they know she is there for them if they need it, but is equally capable to give them the booth if they do not live up to her exacting standards. HOHR (Head of Human Resources) – Julian Martiem ![]() A somewhat ghost figure Julian excels at putting people off on their first encounter, however those who get to know him swiftly see that he deeply cares about the staff and acts as the softening factor to the more harsh nature of many of the others in the command team. RE: Flying Dutchman Airlines - Zortan - 08-26-2018 Wow! Nice! RE: Flying Dutchman Airlines - Carde - 08-28-2018 Glad you like it. Updated the destinations to a route map and I added the additions to the fleet, up to 4 aircraft now. RE: Flying Dutchman Airlines - Carde - 09-07-2018 Even with the thick door shut the bass of the 80s & 90s trance and dance music could be hear from outside of Alicia her office, no doubt on the inside it was as loud as an average rave. Yet Adena knew the moment she knocked no matter how softly it would be switched off and Alicia would be sitting behind her desk as if nothing strange was going on. Still Adena could not help but wonder if that really was the case cause she knew Alicia far to well outside of the office. With that ever present thought on her mind she gave the door a triple knock and as predicted the music cut and Alicia her voice came through in that typical accent of hers, "Come on in." So Adena pushed open the door, "Morning commander." she said. "A Adena how are you doing this morning?" Alicia asked looking away from the triple monitor setup she had on her desk and yet with that all there was still a laptop open as well which faced the door, hence she put it over to the side. Adena gave her a small smile they both knew how last night went and how they where truly feeling, "Quite alright, things are running smoothly enough after the issues with the clearances for Abu Dhabi and Vancouver earlier." "A yeah right old mess that was, wonder who had been stirring up the pot with that one, but I think we both know the answers to that. Anyhow what can I do for you this morning? Cause I know you never show up unless you need me to be doing things." Alicia said with a grin. "Some one has to keep you honest and working there commander." Adena said with a quick well meant jab. "But just a reminder you got some people in for interviews throughout the day, so you might want to stack up on some tea, sugar and water." Alicia let out a growl, "Remind me why I always get the interviews?" "Cause you where the idiot to take the CEO job darling, now get ready the first will be here in about 30 minutes and I have an airline to run and governments to shout at to get our money back for their incompetence." Adena said with a smile before heading out of the office. "Darn it." Alicia said to herself before getting up to head for the kitchen to get the advised items. RE: Flying Dutchman Airlines - Zortan - 09-08-2018 I love how you have the people aspect of it so much! It's so unique and cool! RE: Flying Dutchman Airlines - Carde - 09-08-2018 Marcus had been a pilot with FDA for a couple of months now and had found his stride quite well in the new company, however the notice that he got yesterday to show up at HQ had made him quite nervous. The reason for that was not just Liviana the companies Chief Pilot who certain had a well deserved reputation, but also the fact that Jun'ko Zane would be there as well and that could only mean trouble. He never met the woman, but her reputation was quite clear within the company even though he never had found a person who had dealt with her much so far. For his own experience he suspected the mountains of legal papers he had to sign for the job where of her hands, but nothing more than that. So with a bit of a knot in his stomach he walked to the reception desk, "Good morning I have an appointment with Liviana Viaen and Jun'ko Zane at 0900." "Let me see sir." the man behind the desk said pulling up the agenda's and minimizing the game he was playing cause with a small airline the job was a tad dull. "Indeed you have, I will tell them you have arrived. If you want you can wait in the canteen area, second door on your left." "Thank you so much and I will do that, think I can use an other cup." Marcus said with a forced smile. "Know the feeling sir, but be calm and I am sure nothing terrible is going to happen." the receptionist said with a genuine smile and then turned back to his monitor pulling up his game. Marcus proceeded onwards and found the cateen and got himself the mentioned cup of coffee which to his delight was excellent as he had expected from other places. It was one of the reasons he liked the airline, they paid attention and money on the small details which just made live a lot more enjoyable. About 10 minutes later Liviana entered the cateen, "A marcus, good morning, follow me please." she said turning around right away leaving Marcus to scramble a bit as he caught up. "Good morning chief." was all he said knowing it was senseless to ask anything cause it would no doubt be revealed soon enough. What did not help his nerves was the fact that they walked past Liviana her office towards the office of Jun'ko. Liviana gave the door a quick tap before opening it, "Juni this is Marcus the pilot which you asked for." Jun'ko stood up from her chair extending her hand to Marcus as they walked in, "Good to meet you Marcus sorry for the short notice call and please be seated." Marcus took the offered hand, "No problem Miss Zane." he said before sitting down. Once all where seated Jun'ko spoke up, "The reason I had you called in here has to do with several social media posts which have popped up in the last few weeks and where brought to my attention by the PR firm we employ. Now I know there is a lot of things to read and sign, but one of those document clearly prohibits the use of our company name, logo and other features in social media as well as pictures and videos taken within our aircraft without prior permission. As a pilot you represent our company, but you are not a spokesperson for it. Because of this I have to give you a formal warning, which I will you need you to sign for the fact that you have seen it. Now normally I would also enforce a fine as is part of the contract, however Livi over here has asked me not to do that, she seems to think this was a honest mistake perhaps due to youth and that your service record otherwise is spotless, so you owe her more than one for that one. Is this all clear to you?" The cold, precise and calm way of speaking was enough to send a few shivers down one's spine. Marcus took some deep breaths, he truly had not properly read some of the documents it seemed and something told him that without Liviana this Jun'ko Zane would have skinned him alive or something, her reputation was clearly an understatement of her actual person. "I completely understand and allow me to apologize for this matter I have clearly not read the documents clearly enough in this matter." "Glad to hear we are on the same page." Jun'ko said turning around a document and handing Marcus a pen, "Sign that document, it will go into your file at HR, where it will stay for 5 years after which it will be destroyed. Now I also have a list for you of all the social media post I need you to take down within 48 hours and that would be all from my end, but I believe Livi wants some more of your time." "I understand." Marcus said reading through the document clearly this time, it pretty much covered what was said, though the fact of it being on his file for 5 years was not an happy thought. "Indeed Juni, but we will handle that in my office I believe you have plenty to do." Liviana said, she also very much wanted to get out of Jun'ko her office. She loved and respected the woman and outside of work she was a ton of fun, but when she was at work she just scared her. Marcus finally signed the document and handed it and the pen back to Jun'ko. Jun'ko took it and put it to the side, "Thank you and lets hope next time we meet is under better circumstances, good day." she then said and made a small wave to the door. "Come on." Liviana said getting up and Marcus did not need a second invitation as he got up from his seat and followed Liviana to her office. Once the door was shut he let out a sigh as much as he feared/respected Liviana, Jun'ko had been on a whole new level. "Would you believe me she is the best fun to hang out with outside of work?" Liviana said with a smile as she sat down behind her desk point to the chairs in front of it for Marcus to be seated which he did. "But yeah when it comes to work, you do not want to have her as your enemy. Also do not worry to much, most of the social media stuff really was not to bad, it is just against regulations and we have a brand to protect specially as a new airline in the market. So speaking of that I will with your permission give your details to the PR company we employ and perhaps you two can work something out which allows you to keep posting things and them to keep our brand safe. What do you think of that idea?" Marcus arced an eyebrow first he got a massive telling off and an official warning for his social media content and next he was asked to make more? "I am not sure, would Miss Zane by oke with that? I mean it..." Liviana cut him off, "It be fine as I said the content for 90% was just fine, it is just a legal item. If we didn't like it believe me we would have had a chat about you leaving the airline today. Not even Juni wanted to go there, but she wanted a clear example until I told her to back down a little with the help of Julian from HR. Normally he would have handled this matter in person and Juni would have simply made the papers, but he is out of town for a few days due to some family issues. Anyhow it is all up to you, think about it and contact me later and in the mean time ensure to remove all Juni asked cause she will hunt you down faster than an AMS to LHR flight. Anyhow with that said I did also want to take a look at your schedule and ask if you could be flexible for the coming 2 weeks?" Knowing the situation Marcus felt that being flexible was probably the best thing to do, "Sure, what do you need." he said and so the meeting went on for a bit until he left the building still not exactly sure how he was feeling about it all. I love my planes, but they don't talk and don't have feelings. It is the people in the end who make things work and fun or not. Think about a grumpy flight attendant can ruin an otherwise good flight while a great one can turn a boring flight into an enjoyable one. RE: Flying Dutchman Airlines - Anzatax - 09-10-2018 You put quite some effort into your press releases! I can never find time to devote to writing much stuff, because I am so perfectionist that it takes me quite a lot of time to get satisfied with just one paragraph that I write, and a day later, I would have yet another new idea on how to improve it .I agree with Zortan, having the people aspect in your press release is quite unique and somewhat refreshing! It will not be easy to be bored of reading up on your airline's current events .Will your airline be having a livery? It would be interesting to see what your airline would look like on an aircraft. RE: Flying Dutchman Airlines - Carde - 09-23-2018 No story on this update, but the art work from POTKC deserves to be shown in it's full glory: ![]() All the credit goes to him for this creation and his patience I think this was version 4 before I was truly happy. I am not an easy customer, but he clearly knew what he was doing, cause my original idea as he totally correctly stated would have been far to cartoony. So after some back and fort on his suggestion we came to this design and I really like it. It a stand out plane with that totally non apologetic tail reinforced by those engines. The ship part come back nicely in those beautiful sails on the fuselage of the plane which are beautifully detailed and balance out the look of the plane visually as they offset that heavy black tail. So what do you all think, stand out plane? Or perhaps you think it is a bit to far left of field? RE: Flying Dutchman Airlines - Dokhu - 09-23-2018 Very original ![]() Any design is good. I suggest you to stay with this one that is very good. |
