RE: Can I haz "Insert plane here" please? - Carde - 10-16-2018 Again I would say a lot of balancing still has to be done, I doubt these old jets remain the best option for long. RE: Can I haz "Insert plane here" please? - Dokhu - 10-16-2018 The DC-8-73 is the best aircraft for long. Good price, good profit. I think old aircraft brake the market. RE: Can I haz "Insert plane here" please? - squaregatescrub - 10-16-2018 True. Maybe jack up the maintenance cost or add variables like accidents. Older AC = higher possibility of accidents = less money. Another thing is their speed. Speed should degrade along with age. Unless you want an engine overhaul which will cost you. RE: Can I haz "Insert plane here" please? - Carde - 10-16-2018 Speed does not degrade, engines however need overhauls once a while. In general the maintenance cost for those old families should see some massive increases I think. RE: Can I haz "Insert plane here" please? - squaregatescrub - 10-17-2018 I see. I think it was a CA thing were the older the ac, the more speed it loses. I find it logical back then since cars are the same, the older that engine gets, the fewer hps. (I am not an engineer so pardon me ) Or make the prices a bit more balanced altogether. As of now, I am raking in huge profits from the TU-154M and those things cost me like just 1%-5% of the money that I would have spent on an A321/B737 max RE: Can I haz "Insert plane here" please? - Zortan - 10-17-2018 Yeah totally. Speed shouldn’t degrade, but there is a lot of maintenance that has to be done on planes, especially on older ones. RE: Can I haz "Insert plane here" please? - Carde - 10-17-2018 Once the ABCD checks go in I think the older planes will start bleeding a lot more cash, the only they are the more frequent those big checks specially have to happen iirc. RE: Can I haz "Insert plane here" please? - Unknown98 - 10-17-2018 Currently the fixed family maintenance cost depends on the average size of the aircraft in the family (max seats) as well as the average age (start production). Per-flight maintenance costs depends on the size (max seats) and the number of cycles, topping out around 50,000 cycles: ![]() Maybe add another factor into the formula for per-flight costs that takes into account the age? Also do consider that maintenance checks have not yet been added - once A/B/C/D checks are added that will increase costs RE: Can I haz "Insert plane here" please? - Zortan - 10-18-2018 (10-17-2018, 04:08 PM)Unknown98 Wrote: Currently the fixed family maintenance cost depends on the average size of the aircraft in the family (max seats) as well as the average age (start production). Yeah good idea - there's a reason airlines have fleets under 30 years old generally ![]() The ABCD checks will definitely increase costs, and they will also take time - idk how the scheduling of those should work. RE: Can I haz "Insert plane here" please? - squaregatescrub - 10-18-2018 Unless you live in a third world country where they fly them till their wings fall off. I think a simple calendar tick box interface could work. Forget to schedule a check? Have a huge reputation cut, pay huge penalties, and in a worst case scenario(maybe a 10% chance), have that AC turn into a fireball and lose it altogether + the reputation cuts + penalties and monetary compensation to the victims. Wow, we're getting realistic here.
