RE: Gates and Landing - Archie2821 - 02-01-2017 I got two things, what are we doing with airports that don't actually have gates and just have the apron spot and have to use air stairs? And maybe possibly if you aren't utilizing your gates at a certain time, you'd be able to rent that out to help offset the cost of actually renting it. Obviously it would be cheaper than snagging a gate from the airport, but having a gate sit empty for 2 hours while it could be handling a flight during that would be slightly better than having it sit empty. RE: Gates and Landing - Unknown98 - 02-01-2017 Well for the first one I'm not sure. As it is right now, you can lease a gate at any airport. I was just going to leave it like that as wouldn't the airline have to lease the parking space anyway similar to how a gate lease works? And for leasing out your gate while it's not in use... idk that seems kinda complicated to make work in the backend. I was planning on (eventually) allowing airlines to build their own gates, which they could either then use themselves or lease out. RE: Gates and Landing - Carde - 02-01-2017 I guess you lease gates on frequency of use: A main carrier of the airport will have a bunch of gates for it's sole use because well it will always have planes around to fill the gates. Others that just arrive once or twice a day likely share gates with other airlines, because they pay less and the airport just allocates the same gate to multiple airlines as fits the schedule. RE: Gates and Landing - Unknown98 - 02-02-2017 So should the game have two "types" of gate leasing then? Idk what the technical terms are but for example: Dedicated Gates - Leased out for a monthly rate - Only your airline can use the gate Shared Gates - Any airline can use the gate - Paid for on a by-use basis The only real difference would be the cost to the airline as the game doesn't know how many gates each airport has. Shared gates would be cheaper for airports with less frequency in your schedule, but as you increase frequencies you would want to switch over to dedicated gates to save money. RE: Gates and Landing - Carde - 02-02-2017 Game concessions to be made in the end, Both systems could work and I think that the amount of gates should not matter really as the really demand is made by the figures and we can safely assume the airport has enough gates to handle it. RE: Gates and Landing - ryanfairellis97 - 02-05-2017 I have a question, not sure if it has been answered before. Are the airports going to have a gate limit based on real world stats. Sorry I haven't seen the forms for a while so I can't remember if thus has been discussed RE: Gates and Landing - Unknown98 - 02-05-2017 No, they won't. RE: Gates and Landing - Dokhu - 02-05-2017 If I have a gate that I use with low frequency. How long will it take to lose the right on that gate? RE: Gates and Landing - Unknown98 - 02-05-2017 I haven't thought about that yet. As it is right now you cannot lose the right to a gate due to low usage. RE: Gates and Landing - Unknown98 - 02-09-2017 Alright so currently working on finishing the gate system. I want to add the ability to choose gate type (see screenshot), and then I need to work on having the aircraft toggle your gates to be "in use" when they are on the ground. This leads to another question - how should the game assign gate usage? Lets say you have two gates at an airport, one is dedicated and one is shared. You have two in-bound flights about to land. I assume the game should use the dedicated gate first, and then use the shared gate right? that would make more financial sense. P.S. cost figures are just examples, not final.
