Gate Leasing Menu is...painful - POTKC - 03-16-2017
It works right maybe 50% of the time for me. Sometimes the second dropdown continues to display "select country first" even after I select a country in the first dropdown, sometimes after selecting the country everything bugs out and not a single button works so I have to reload the page. Even when it works right, it still takes ages. Pretty much the only feature of this beta that I dislike - everything else is great. Would it be possible to implement a box into which the IATA code of an airport can be typed to lease gates directly without going through all the dropdown menus?

I fully agree with POTKC, the gate leasing menu is a little clunky and slow to manipulate correctly. Possibly could we even just refer to the CA method, listing by continent, then country, then city? (and you just lick on each category until you find the right airport?)

I have to agree. It takes a lot of time. And gets bit frustrating when you have to do it again and again.

I seem to remember CA having a box to type the IATA code into, was that a thing or am I imagining it?

@POTKC It's quite possible, though I do not have actual recollection of it (I would always scroll through the categories).

Hmm. I tested it prior to beta and it seemed to work fine. It does take 1-2 seconds to populate the second and third lists but shouldn't take longer than that.

That's just a testing page I created to test the operation of the function. Just trying to figure out if it is an issue with the gate leasing page specifically, or if it is an universal issue with the ajax/jQuery functions used to populate the lists.
I can look into changing it however. Ideally I'd like to get the selection lists working perfectly for everyone rather than revert to a system like CA used. What I can do however is add a box to type in the IATA code, so you can just go straight to that instead of using the lists if you know the code already.
If all else fails then I suppose I can just do something like the airport research page (https://www.airlineenterprise.com/research/airports?page=1&ipp=50&country=0) where you select a country and it gives you a list. Then add a "Select Airport" button or something.

This one is quicker than the in-game one.

I think this might take the same amount of time but players will be able to see all the airports and stats and time would pass easily.

Okay, good. I will have to look into it then. It should be the same exact system but maybe I did something wrong.

Haven't been able to look at the code for the dropdown menus but I did add a textbox so you can type the IATA code directly.
