Airports & Aircraft Database - Unknown98 - 10-30-2016 Google form submissions are now closed for airports. Thank you to everyone who submitted data. From this point onwards, airports will be added to the game via a form I will create on the website. Attached are the databases for the airports and aircraft currently in-game. The aircraft table only has 5 aircraft but you guys wanted to see, so I included it anyways. A couple things: I'm sure all the data is not correct. Particularly the yearly passenger and cargo numbers might need to be double-checked. A lot of cargo data is missing because we couldn't find it very easily. It's important that these passenger numbers are correct because it will influence route demand. I've been getting most of this info from wikipedia. Additionally cargo data should be reported in metric tons per year. Good sources for cargo data might be the airport's annual report or wikipedia. Fuel consumption for aircraft is calculated by max fuel capacity (US gal) divided by the max range (mi). This gives us gallons of fuel used per mile flown, or gallons per mile. So the 737-800 for example will burn 1.95 gallons for each mile flown. Fuel burn in real life is complicated and depends on many things like payload, altitude, speed, wind etc but I think this is an acceptable way to calculate it for our purposes. I'm open to suggestions if you have a better idea. This is the speradsheet where all this info is being collected (read-only): https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1FCTaRq8v2QNpuLO_VCIAm2suPn0J0iig9SNxK_o6u0M/edit?usp=sharing If you would like to add an airport, you can use this form: https://goo.gl/forms/KsT4qJ82KTAuBd7m1 Responses will be reviewed and then added to the spreadsheet. Skifans also made a map of all the airports, so you can get an idea of what regions of the world need more airports. https://drive.google.com/open?id=1PjVm8ipwbgSgn0SdxR0JVhbi7qk&usp=sharing AIRPORTS Frenchie: France/Luxembourg/Switzerland/Belgium Lokesh: India RE: Airports & Aircraft Database - Carde - 10-30-2016 Do you also want us working on plane data and if so is what you have in the list all you need? RE: Airports & Aircraft Database - Unknown98 - 10-30-2016 Well that's the thing, I'm not entirely sure yet. I *think* that's all I need, but the reason I haven't added more aircraft is because of the point you bring up. I don't want to add 100 aircraft and then realize I needed another data point or two, and have to go back and research all over again. I should know more once I get into coding the route planning functionality. RE: Airports & Aircraft Database - Carde - 10-30-2016 Righty, there is a lot to be taken into account regarding them aircraft Once you know more I start digging, will focus on British and Dutch aircraft first I guess
RE: Airports & Aircraft Database - Frenchie - 10-30-2016 Alright, I'd love to work on France a little more (as I had extensively under Venture). It might be a good idea to make a list of members working on certain countries, to avoid any double posting and wastage of time-efficiency. For instance, I don't mind working on France/Luxembourg/Switzerland/Belgium for now, until it is deemed complete. Finally, is there any threshold as to the limit for the incorporation of small airports in terms of size/passenger traffic? RE: Airports & Aircraft Database - Unknown98 - 10-30-2016 Seems like a good idea. I'll update the first post with what each member is working on. Ehh, I would say for now, anything under 100K yearly passengers probably isn't needed. At a certain point you wouldn't make any money flying there anyway. We can always add the smaller airports at a later time if we want to. RE: Airports & Aircraft Database - chaitanya - 10-31-2016 During the summer break I collected airport data of India and Bangladesh. I will update them again in a day or two and PM you the file. RE: Airports & Aircraft Database - skifans - 10-31-2016 Iv made a map with googles My Map software which maps what airports are in the above file onto a map in order to make it clear what regions of the earth are missing most: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1PjVm8ipwbgSgn0SdxR0JVhbi7qk&usp=sharing RE: Airports & Aircraft Database - Carde - 10-31-2016 I will say if you need work on any regions other's don't fancy drop me a message and I start hunting I don't really care in fact more obscure places are bound to be more fun to dig up
RE: Airports & Aircraft Database - luizdom - 10-31-2016 in south america has only 4 airports, I can get the data from the major airports if possible add more airports. I used the translator, my English is bad KKKK |
