Airline Empires (AE, http://www.airline-empires.com/index.php?/page/home.html) has a swear filter, why can't we?
Edit: It should be implemented in both forums and airline names.

Personally I don't care as long as it doesn't get out of hand, or if it's a constant thing.

Kinda the reason I never made any forum rules... I want to see if we can get on just running on common sense. It's worked so far.

Restricting certain words from airline names might not be a bad idea though. But as far as the forums go... meh.

As a Dutch person who has a love for many swear words I am quite naturally against this.

Honestly it is something one leaves up to the moderation, if people start to throw insults that is a bad thing, if people say a certain situation is fucked up in their opinion it is other thing.

Will say some words would be better banned from airline names, would save on moderation time, but forum wise some really bad words might have their use in a certain context without being insulting within that.

No they don't. I can swear as much as I want on Empires - I think...

I don't realy think its necessary. Outright banning certain words/phrases has many problems:

And developing anything more effective isn't worth anyone's time or effort. So Id argue for leaving things as they are, we already have a system for reporting posts on the forums. And some sort of system should be developed for in the game. If someone feels that they are receiving inappropriate PMs or see something they feel is too far/unreasonable as an airline name or description. Maybe some system to allow you to block PMs from a certain player could be implemented to try and reduce the amount of moderation needed.

Well, the F and S words are replaced with ****, as well as a few others.

You do realize we can use whitelists for some words that contain swears, right? Scratch does that.
