Aircraft part exchange - Tesla - 10-23-2017

I know this is not something that comes to mind immediately, and I do not know how much it happens in the real world, but could we add part exchanging of aircraft?

Eg a 26 million e195 part exchanging for a 747-200 of similar value. Players would need to accept part exchange offers, so it could be disadvantageous to the buyer, as normal purchase go through without the need for the sellers input. But I think it could potentially be a saviour for players who are cash strapped but have an under-utilised asset. I don't even know if this can be implemented or even is a good idea. But please do say if this could be done, even with some changes

Part swapping certainly happens, mostly with engines. But it almost is always within the airline. Or in the case of aviation within a service company.

That being said, you always need all the parts of an aircraft to fly it. (Well, mostly. Tongue ) You are swapping a part so you aren't making money so I don't see the advantage for the broke airline. The way you could make money is the engine the engine you have has less hours then the one you are receiving. But then it cost more to maintain that engine that you received so it all gets negated.

I think the idea is interesting but between implementing it (which would probably be extremely complicated if at all possible) and being a little too much micromanaging I don't see it happening. Part of the beauty of this game is you don't need to pay attention to every little detail.

I don't think I quite understand it... exchanging parts from an e195 for a 747? How would that work?

Now maybe something along the lines of replacing, say, the engines of your aircraft with different/newer ones to improve fuel efficiency and give more options when it comes to range and runway requirement could be implemented. But I don't see that happening until after final release.

As in part exchange (as in you reduce the amount of cash needed to pay for the e195 by offering a 747 or other aircraft you own as payment)

Not aircraft parts swapping. Swapping aircraft themselves in used market trades.

Oh, I see. I suppose it would be possible. Not sure if it would be utilized much however. People selling usually want cash, not part cash and another aircraft they may or may not have a use for.

As far as actually trading aircraft I've never heard of that. Closest thing to this I've heard of is a major carrier moving around RJs among regional carriers.

Hence why the PX offer has to be accepted by the seller.

Also, auction of aircraft in the used market? Rather than a fixed price, users bid over a time period. Choice of the seller whether to sell direct or by auction, and if by auction they decide whether the plane leaves for the closing price or decline it

RE: Aircraft part exchange - khush37 - 10-24-2017

I think that if there was an auction then the seller shouldn't get to decide whether or not to let it sell because there has to be some element of risk. Otherwise everyone will just use the auction option and not the fixed price.

What if players start trolling? Real life auctions work exactly like that. Winning bid buys, unless the seller decides he can't sell at that price, then negotiates with the buyer or cancels entirely.

Auctions are coming, I’m just not sure when. It will work like eBay essentially.
