Sedwick Airport - More Spots and a Building - ALT2870 - 07-21-2018

Side project I have decided to start working on, timeline project in Airport CEO. Will probably be somewhat fast paced but we'll see how it goes. Smile

Welcome to Sedwick County in Sim World. A local group of pilots have started interest in a flying club. After all, would be nice to have a place to park their planes. Upon looking upon vast miles of land, this spot should do the trick, the county road should provide easy access.

The pilots formed the Sedwick County flying club and quickly got to work. The planes are small and don't demand much so a grass strip should do the trick. (The budget of 250k also dictates a lot as well.) A couple of months later and an airport is born.

In order for access from the county road, a small paved road leads up to the parking area. The pilots simply park their cars in the grass and go fly.

Much like everything else, parking is in the grass. Paint dictates the spaces. There are only three spots to park but with only three members, not much more is needed.

The small grass strip will hopefully prove popular for other local pilots. The strip needs money to survive, even if just mowing the grass.

Next time we'll see how well the strip fares with local pilots and expand further.

Fun! I don’t play any of these games, so this is quite interesting!

I echo what Zortan has said, this seems really interesting!

Thanks guys, glad to see you are enjoying this. Smile

It has been two years since the airport opened, lets see where things have gone.

Things sure have changed since we last saw this place. From this overhead shot, it's hard to tell so lets get closer.

The small strip has become quite popular among local pilots. Initially it was only open to club pilots, but then the club figured it could make more money if they opened some spots to the public as well. The result was the addition of several more parking spots. Parking spots around the building are for club members (which has grown massively) and the further spots for public.

Then just after the one year anniversary, the club announced they would be adding a "clubhouse" as well. The construction just wrapped up and here is the finished product.

This shot shows the east half of the building. Here are the offices for the higher ups in the club. All meetings and more occur here as well. You can also see the asphalt around the building so club members can park their vehicles.

The other side of the building has the main area where pilots can relax. Of course bathrooms are a necessity too and a small quite room exist as well. The empty room is being saved for future purposes.

As the small strip becomes more popular and the club keeps growing both with members and money, there have been talks about paving the airport. The infrastructure is the clubs biggest expense and paving everything would probably save money.

Next time we will see if the club can gather funds to further enhance the airport.
