Usage of Gates

Hi I am not sure how do gates work right now at the moment. Am I right that for every flight arriving or departing, or even having a turnaround at the airport, I would need a gate for the plane? If so, does this make sense?

Admin is working on a little issue about gate usage at the moment.

At the moment aircraft do not occupy gates - I am working on implementing slots which will replace the old gate usage system we had before.
