I would like to add that non variable, non direct costs shouldnt be rolled into the variable operations costs. For example if I have a security guard at my HQ, it shouldn't matter if I have 190000 flights or 1, I still pay the security guy the same amount. Sure the amount of guards scales with the size of the building and airline, but it shouldn't scale with longer flights or more flights.
So I support this separation into its own category.
