a couple of questions
#1
Firstly, Great game, ive converted over from another popular airline management sim that seems to be stuck dead with no updates or improvements.

Anyhow, am i right in thinking i need one gate for every one of my aircraft? so that at 6am every morning before any scheduled flights have taken off, each aircraft has a gate?

Can the above be tinkered with using nightstops, so i schedule DUB to LHR for example to arrive into LHR before midnight, stay overnight there and fly back in the morning to get back into DUB at 7am, after the first scheduled flights have left at 6?, theoretically having a spare gate?

that way i can have a lower amount of gates and save a few quid in the process.

I take it connecting passengers are not implemented into the game yet? so no need to tie in short haul to get in for the long haul flights?

and last one if i may. is there any fleet commonality cost benefits in the game?

Welcome!

Yes, one gate is needed for each aircraft that will be on-ground simultaneously. Using strategy with aircraft route scheduling/placement you can position aircraft so that you need less gates, like you mention instead of basing all your aircraft out of 1 airport, you could split them between various airports. Additionally you can lease shared gates, those will charge you a per-use fee instead of a weekly lease.

Connecting passengers are not yet implemented, but planned for some stage in the future.

Fleet commonality is worked into the per-flight maintenance costs, if you have multiple aircraft in the same family you will receive a discount on MX costs. The more aircraft you own, the greater the discount, up to a certain point (around 80 aircraft). Maximum discount is around 30%. It is a logistical growth formula so discount starts off slow, then grows, and then levels off.
