IFS and IFE pricing tips
#1
Question
Title says it all.  As of this moment, I pretty much just "guesstimate" my prices which in reality, is bad.  Is there a way to "smartly" (was that even a word?) set the prices?  Ticket prices, sure, I have a working knowledge of those but these new features, I am kinda lost.  Thanks!

If you want to charge the goal should be to offset the cost or even make a small profit. These are the costs:

Snack, Beverage and Comfort options and prices are inclusive of all previous options (+ Pretzels would include Peanuts and Pretzels, and the cost of serving both would be $60 fixed and $0.15 variable). Offering special/reserved meals is a good option for passengers that may have specific dietary requirements or allergies. Offering this service will increase your fixed and variable meal costs by 10% across the board.

Fixed costs are the one-time cost (per flight) of offering a particular service. If you offer the same service across multiple classes you will only pay one fixed cost. Variable costs on the other hand are the recurring cost (per passenger per flight) of offering a particular service. This is per passenger served, not per passenger flown. Not all passengers may choose to take something off the IFS menu or use a comfort item offered to them, especially if you charge extra for those options.

So if you offer the same service/product/packaging across multiple classes, you only pay one fixed cost. If you offer Hot Sandwich meal in economy and premium, the fixed cost would be $200. If you offer Hot Sandwich in economy and hot light meal in premium, fixed cost would be $200 + $275 = $475.

Keep in mind the variable costs for meals are multiplied by the number of meals served. Fixed costs are the same regardless of number of meals.

You can use that info to try to calculate what prices to set. If you really want to min/max it you will probably have to use a spreadsheet.

Thanks for the reply Unk. Now, as a follow up question, how do you guys figure out a good ballpark prices for the IFE? The movies and wi-fi?

Will I get a good reputation boost if I just set everything to 0? (free goodies)

As of right now prices on the IFE and IFS do not affect reputation. That may be changing soon.

Hi Admin.

When I'm setting up the beverages I see that the beer can is not listed as an option. The drink appears as an option but not the type of container. I mean a beer has a container itself.

Thanks.

Not sure I understand

All drinks can be served in either plastic, glass, or crystal.

I'm not sure if the beers are served in its original can. The cups are not necessary.

Oh, okay. Usually (on the airlines I have flown at least) they provide a cup along with the can. for example on emirates they gave me the Heineken along with a plastic cup. So that's how I made the game.

Same here. They serve cups along with beverage cans/tetrapak. Maybe add an option that says "original container"?

Don't they usually serve with the original container anyway?
