i hope they do. so i don't have to wait another year to get them
Funnily enough, the IRL airlines seem to think otherwise - they don't want to get them

Lol I mean I don't think a manufacturer had to change the launch customer just because the first airline didnt want it anymore

Well, only two airlines have ordered it... Kuwait Airways and that Uganda thing. The -800neo won't sell well because it's too small for it's costs, so it doesn't make much money. Similar to what we've seen with the A318/736 and A319/73G

Don't forget Hawaiian. At least they ordered it

Yeah but they cancelled it in favor of the 787.
The thing with the A330neo is that it's already fairly new (launched in 2014) and that it has fierce competition from the 787. It's not that there's not the demand for it or that it's not profitable for an airline. It's just that Boeing beat Airbus time-wise with a product which has already been flying for 3 years when the neo launched. I'm not convinced that it's not as efficient as the 787 yet. It might be but it's been in service only for a few months. Time will tell I guess..

Yup. We'll have to wait again. For a long time.

Airbus claims that the A330-800neo is 30% cheaper to operate and saves 8% more fuel than the competing 787. I don't think it is fuel problems or anything. The truth is, the older A330-200 was actually quite popular, so size is not the problem. One main reason is as Soyros said, timing. The other reason is that Airbus actually still sell their A330ceo options, and some airlines actually prefer to order those (it is said that this is due to the relaxed fuel costs of recent years), so the A330neo is selling moderately at best. Efficiency should not be a problem. Airbus and Boeing both claim that their upgraded older aircraft (A330neo, 777X) beat the newer 787 and A350s. So I guess it is down to other strategic factors.
