Used Aircraft Market
#21
I was just looking at the used aircraft market and there is pretty much an entire fleet of new 737-900ER, 777-300ER, and A330-300's appeared at London Heathrow. Is this random or is it where an airline has reset/sold their aircraft

I was messing around and discovered that if you buy at 40/60, then sell your planes immediately, you'll make so much money that by the time the payments catch up with you it won't matter. There are a few hundred planes on the market now because of that...

And if you are on bulk orders with 30% discount - it is like a lottery!

I think we need to figure out a way around this problem. Maybe close the Used Aircraft Market for the time being till there is a way to stop these things.

Exactly. You triple the money you have with each 50-aircraft order/sell combo
Until at some point you realize that even 50 747-8s don't even out a dent in your massive budget
And decide to stop...

Small update, but the used aircraft market tab on the home page now shows the 5 most recent aircraft that have been placed on the market.

I was wondering... if we add new aircraft, and they aren't produced anymore, will they also randomly appear on the used aircraft market or does the admin have to pull a switch first in order to "unlock" newly added ones?

No switch-pulling, they should eventually appear on their own.

Keep in mind the more aircraft we add the less likely it is that any particular model will show up. Every 2 hours the system deletes 10 random aircraft (except for aircraft sold by players, those are left on the market until someone buys them) from the market and generates roughly the same amount of new random aircraft to place on the market.

The amount of aircraft it re-generates depends on how many system-generated aircraft have been purchased since the last cycle. It always generates enough aircraft to bring the amount of system-generated planes on the market up to 100. So if 1 plane has been bought in the last 2 hour period, the system will delete 10 random planes and generate 11. If two have been bought, it will delete 10 random planes and generate 12. And so on.

Thanks for the detailed explanation, Unk. Guess I'll just have to be patient and check the used aircraft market on a more or less regular basis.

EDIT (@ 23:30 JST): Picked up my first NAMC YS-11A-200! My airline management life is complete - for now. Oh, wait... it's sitting on the tarmac of Tri-Cities Airport in Washington...

Used market now updates every 30 minutes instead of every 2 hours, and it will generate 15 random new aircraft instead of only 10.
