Can I haz "Insert plane here" please?

I know this is an old debate point, but I was wondering what the plans are regarding the availability of planes.

I mean I think it is quite common knowledge if I can I would love to operate a fun VC10 fleet until they kingdom comes Smile

I am not asking for it to be the most efficient I simply would like it to be possible, to me that is more fun than optimizing my fleet to the fine tunes with a mix of all sorts of planes and updating to new models etc etc.

EDIT: Here is data needed to add an aircraft to the database -

Max seats is max capacity in a one class layout
Range is at MTOW/fully loaded
Runway requirement is takeoff run at MTOW
Speed is typical cruise
Price is the price as of right now, or for aircraft no longer in production, as of the last year of production

What I am planning to do is have a wide variety of planes in the game, new and old. But if the plane is out of production in real life, then you won't be able to buy a new one in-game. You could however get one off the used aircraft market. How that will work is every week or so, the system generates a new mixture of used aircraft and lists them on the used aircraft market. Players can also list their aircraft on the used market.

So yes, you could have your VC-10 or your DC-7, but you wouldn't be able to order a brand new one.

As far as aircraft like the AN-225, not sure what I want to do on those yet. Seeing as there's only 1 (maybe 2?) ever built I don't think I want to add it to the game.

Sounds quick and interesting. I think the plane would have to appear through the week, if all planes appear at xx:yy on day z then this may make it harder for some people to get the planes which they want. Personally id have no problem adding "rare" aircraft like the AN-225 but think they should be balanced properly with the game (or if anything - deliberately slightly worse) to make sure we aren't creating a raffle for who is lucky and quick enough to buy a particular plane.

Don't see a point in the AN-225. It's fuel usage was understated in CA, and besides that was you would always have enough of a haul to make money on it. I think (key word) that this game was going to try and more realistically determine demand so you don't have a near full load going from middle of nowhere Africa to a hut in South America.

Hmm I hadn't thought of that. Maybe I can do every day at various intervals then. Not so much so that the ENTIRE used market would refresh 2-3 times per day, but maybe have a few planes disappear and then have a few new ones appear, etc.

Personally, I hated the An-225 in CA. It was completely unrealistic, especially considering that there was only ever one buit. You'd get airlines flying 99 (or whatever the limit was) of them back and fort between two cities, getting ahead massively, and creating a disadvantage for those who preferred realism over insanely huge profits.

I think that the best balance for such planes is simple supply and demand.

If you consider that the airfreight market has been shrinking for year after year, I don't think you want a bunch of those planes around.

However you could have a contact system in the game that allows airlines to bit on certain special flights, lowest bidder that can handle it wins the contract. That way you might get some use out of your plane, but it be a more risky investment seeing normally it will not pay out to fly out and with the contracts you might have to bid low.

Anyhow I do hope that it will be possible to keep slowly growing my VC10 fleet over time, just being the stubborn airline that says "This plane has worked for us for us now for 60 years and I am certain it will for an other 60 years." Smile

Sorry to resurrect the thread, but any chance we can get the 737MAX series?

EDIT: Added the 737 MAX 8 to the database, someone may want to double check me on the technical info however.

EDIT OF THE EDIT: The OEW seems wrong on my end, I used Maximum Zero Fuel Weight instead of OEW. From what I can find it appears to be the same as the 737-800 at 91,300 lbs

The max 8 has capacity for 200 pax, 162 is the configuration for 2 classes

Isn't that technically marketed as the MAX 200 rather than the MAX 8?
