[CONFIRMED] Political restrictions?
#1
For example the airline is based in the United States and it can fly from there and back.

What I mean is, a airline from the USA shouldn't be able to have to right to operate from Dubai to like Sydney. Unless if you can implement some kind of deal that we can sign (contracts) but obviously we have to pay a certain amount to the contractor every week or so when the contract is signed?

We discussed this before but opinions were mixed on whether to implement it. I’m open to the idea.

I think we should even you implement people would still be able to do that certain route but just on a contract maybe paying the base airline there to fly that route etc

The point is that the whole system is really really complicated to implement that would be quite a challenge. I mean the EU makes it for the EU easy as any EU bases airline may operate from any EU airport without restrictions, but beyond that things get tricky quickly.

Yes that is very true but It's just that I've seen many American based airlines flying to places from elsewhere which kind of defeats the purpose of realism

Adding the political restrictions would take a long time. You'd have to figure which countries have a Air Transport Agreement with each other... believe me, that's not something you want to have to research.
More realism is good, but doing this would take months to research and the implementation might cause some people to move on from the game.

I always paid attention to the freedoms of the air and I remember it's also been a rather sensitive topic during the more active roleplay days on the CA forum. Still, I'd like to see some restrictions being implemented. As a Japanese airline, I don't go to - let's say - LAX and start offering several flights to various destinations across North America from there. In return, I'm not fond of seeing foreign airlines operate domestic services around my country. I'm with Aeal on this one, and I especially like the idea of implementing fees, if an airline decides to operate flights beyond the 6th freedom.

In terms of airlines operating a number of routes outside of their home country. Could this be solved by using hubs as a way of limiting this kind of operation. For example say my airline HQ is London Gatwick and if i wanted to operate more that say...6 flights a day from any country outside of the UK i would have to open a hub and incur larger costs than normal. Not sure how that will work but just a thought...

Certainly more then a few ways to do it. I wouldn't be too hard to find the list. (Taking it from another game with the initials AE. Rolleyes )

I'm impartial to the idea. I think if you do, there has to be a way around it because part of the idea it to have fun no? I would either allow multiple accounts. (Limit it to 2 or 3.) Or bring in subsidies which would work even better.

Subsidies would be a fun way to get around it, as well as spend your money once you grow large.
