Oh okay. Totally didn't know that. Just made a joke out of thin air. :/

Anyways, on a side note, there is actually a departing flight from LAX to ORD on the day I need to leave the convention I plan on going to. Reason why I mention this flight is because its a 787-8. Now, would it be worth it if:

A: The flight costs about `appx $17 less than a flight out of Long Beach with American Airlines via Kayak.com
B: The flight will take me about an extra 2 hours to get back home, with a potential for classes on the day after, most likely in the early morning hours.
C: The flight is an American Airlines flight, scheduled for about 4 hours in the air.
D: The flight is at LAX and not at LGB, so that $17 "saved" will more than likely have to be spent on transportation to LAX.
E: The return flight from ORD to OMA would be in a CRJ900.
F: The other options would most likely to fly Southwest Airlines in their standard 737s, but the price tag would be extremely cheaper than via American (Appx $178 via SWA)

So, the ultimate question here is: Being the aviation geeks we are, is the 787 really worth the extra "hassle" to fly on?

I just wish flying in america wasn't so expensive. I'm looking at trying to go to a Nascar race w/ my dad this year and good lord I'ma spend like $1000 when it's all said and done.

I was thinking about going to Martinsville which is in Virginia, but we haven't decided yet. Was also thinking Bristol or Richmond.

Go for it, you never know what you will really get though. I'm flying Swiss from MAN->ZRH in February (was CS 100 when booked) but recently got an email about itinerary changes and it's now an A321 I think it is because they wanted more capacity for half term week as there website still shows other flights as CS 100, even on the day I'm flying but not my flight

True. Still... a 787... I haven't been on a widebody since 2006 from Atlanta to Orlando though... That's the only time I can recount being on a widebody though, and to this day I still have no clue what aircraft it actually was... D:

Atlanta to Orlando? 767 or 777. Any idea what time of day it was?

Depending on where that conference is the difference in how longs it takes to get to the airport could be over an hour so that's something to consider. I thought AA's 787 was cool but in the back it's pretty cramped with the 9 wide layout so be warned although I had overnight flights in the 787 so probably mattered more to me than on a 4 hour hop. A cool plane to fly on no doubt you just need to decide whether it's worth paying the $180 more over Southwest (plus even more if you're gonna have bags).

I was guessing it was a 767-300, and discussed it here before more than likely. Being Delta and all, but yeah. I'm gonna try and gun for the 787 flight.
