Hi.
The cost of aircraft leasing is very cheap. It should be about seven times higher.
Thank you.

Any sources for that? I tried to make leasing costs somewhat realistic.

It seems reasonable right now. It is currently approximately the list cost amortized over 18 years with a bit of a premium. Which is reasonable, and most airlines report a amortization life of 15-20 years of their assets. Of course a leasing company that makes a large order is never going to pay list costs of a aircraft, more like 50%. Of course, if you have enough credit, borrowing and buying aircraft outright is cheaper, but that means paying off the loan over 20 years IRL, which I am not sure that this game will exactly be in this state 20 years from now.

I love the idea of making things as real as possible but renting a plane here is so profitable that it does not justify investing in any purchase. I see that all the revenues are too high and the game is too easy to play. We need more challenges in this matter. That's all.
Thanks for your answers. ![]()

Those issues will be addressed in future updates in other ways, for instance the operational cost I mentioned in the other thread. IFE/IFS will increase costs.

That still doesn't mean that lease costs should be increased to absurd levels. And yes leasing is indeed more profitable, that's why currently almost all airlines are leasing their planes instead of going for a direct purchase.

I can tell you this from personal experience these leases are as close as you can get to real life. some are more realistic than others for the lease let’s take a Boeing 737-400 for example. in the game the monthly lease alone is about $345K without insurance and maintenance. in real life the lease for a Boeing 737-400 costs 75K a month (comes down to $2500 a day for the plane) but more so depends on the airline and how much the lessor trusts them. (most 737’s are on the high side for monthly lease) but let’s take the failed eastern airlines start up for example. They were paying for a used 737-700 about 850k and month.(I don’t remember the exact numbers) and then the brand new 737-800’s they leased they were paying 900K+ a month and all that is without insurance and their horrible pencil whipping mechanics they had.
