Turnaround time
#1
I have a question for you guys as I'm currently working on this part of the game - should turnaround times at the destination airport be included in the total flight time, or should it be a separate thing? For example, if it was separate, what I would do is update the aircraft's status to "Turnaround", so when you go to your fleet page each aircraft could have 1 of 3 statuses: On ground, En-route, or Turnaround. (Is the technical term turnaround? Idk...)

If it was included in the total flight time, the landing time would simply be extended by the turnaround time of the aircraft.

It's extremely simple to code either one so don't worry about which would be harder to code. I just want to know which you guys prefer. Personally I prefer the turnaround to be separate from the flight, I think it makes it a tad more realistic. The only issue I potentially see is it being more difficult to determine exactly when you will be able to launch your next flight, since it will show "landing" time as one time, but then you won't actually be able to start another flight until the turnaround has been completed. But that can be solved easily by simply displaying the "completion time" of the flight in addition to the "landing time".

Ehh, i'm a firm believer in "options", so if possible, I'd like to see the option, as set from when you actually start the flight. (for those who either have busy lives, or want "maximum efficiency".

Personally I'd prefer it to be separate.

Separate and also one should be able to pick the length. Longer means more time to clean and restock the plane, shorter means less. The rapid turn arounds are key to the low cost airlines for example, but an flag carrier might want to take a few more minutes to ensure everything is done properly.

So do you think each aircraft should have a minimum turnaround time, and then allow the user to add additional time onto that if they want? Or just pick any time they want?

Eventually I would work turnaround times into delays, but I haven't got that far yet lol.

Should always be a minimum due getting people on and off and refueling etc etc.

I like the idea that a longer turn-around will increase (slightly) the reputation of an airline as the cabin crew boards efficiently at a smooth pace (in contrast to a rushed low cost turnaround however cheaper since you use the gate for a lesser amount of time).

Thus, a short turn around would save money, and a longer turnaround would add satisfaction or prestige (rating perhaps, whatever the system). Furthermore, we could reduce the risk of an eventful delay with a longer turnaround as the checks and fueling/boarding process are handled better.

Im not sure about using turnaround for reputation, I see no problems with delays though. This is because lets say I lunch an hour long flight, but no for a fact I won't be back for 3 hours to deal with it. I could set an insanely long 2 hour turn around period to get a good reputation and skimp on the other options and still end up average overall. If it is included I think the weighting given should be very small and potentially capped.

Well you wouldn't be able to set an insanely long turnaround time. The way I envision it working is a +X Mins or +X% to the minimum turnaround. Lets say for instance the minimum turnaround for a 737-800 is 20 minutes. You would have the option to set +5 mins, +10 mins, +15 mins or +20 mins in addition to the minimum.

That sounds reasonable
