Phoenix Airlines launches "City Connection" Routes, opens routes to Taipei
Shanghai - Phoenix Airlines today launched the "City Connection" Routes, a series of routes which aims to cut down travel between major cities in East Asia by 5 to 15 minutes, catering to businessman and office workers living in one city but working in the other.
This set of "City Connection" Routes aims to connect 6 major cities in East Asia, namely, Seoul, Tokyo, Taipei, Shanghai, Macau and Hong Kong, by offering flights to the airports located close to the city center, namely Seoul Gimpo, Tokyo Haneda, Taipei Songshan, Shanghai Hongqiao. Phoenix Airlines, as a China-based airline, would be offering flights to Gimpo, Haneda, Songshan, Macau and Hong Kong from our Shanghai Hongqiao domestic hub. "The launch of this City Connection Route, with Shanghai Hongqiao as the center, would allow us to reduce our reliance on O&D flights from Shanghai Hongqiao. Apart from giving people living and working in Shanghai easy access to the other cities, it also helps to boost our capacity on our international flights to Seoul and Tokyo, as well as increase connections to Hong Kong, Macau and Taipei from Shanghai," said Mr Ma Xing, Director of Airline Operations (Domestic and East Asia). "With Gimpo, Songshan and Haneda being closer to the city center as compared to Incheon, Taoyuan and Nartia respectively, it allows passengers to travel to Seoul and Taipei city centers from Shanghai in 2 hours, and reach the Tokyo central in under 3 hours. These would greatly increase the connectivity between these major cities of East Asia, and make travelling between these cities easier for business workers."
The launch of flights to Songshan also coincide with the launch of flights to Taipei Taoyuan. Mr Ma was also stressing on the importance of these routes to Taipei. "Connecting to our comrades across the Straits would allow them to travel to China more easily. Furthermore, as one of the fastest growing airlines in the world, these flights to Taipei would give our comrades to opportunity to enjoy Phoenix Airlines' world class service. Phoenix Airlines flies to over 60 destinations outside of China, Macau, Hong Kong and Taiwan, and more than 30 destinations within mainland China. With our extensive service, there will definitely be a flight for everyone."
Flights to Taipei Taoyuan, Taipei Songshan and Seoul Gimpo have already been open for reservations. As for flights to Tokyo Haneda, the flights will be open for reservations by 6th October, starting towards end-October. It is expected that Phoenix Airlines will launch Beijing-Haneda, Shanghai Pudong/Hongqiao-Haneda for the first flights to Haneda, but further details will only come in the weeks to come.
As for flights to Seoul, passengers flying from and to Seoul may expect certain schedule changes, regardless of whether they are flying into Gimpo or Incheon. This is because of flight route restrictions as well as realignment of schedule that caters to the inbound flights from America and Europe. Affected passengers would be informed by their phone number and the email. If in doubt, passengers can also contact the local sales office for details.
