End of an era: Retirement of Super 70s

First Published: 18th Sept 2019 2.50pm UTC+8
Last Update: 26th Sept 2019 11.00am UTC+8

Phoenix Airlines today announced the impending retirement of the Super 70s from their fleet, ending the airline's short but important relationship with the type.
"Many people have asked us why we have decided to retire the fleet after such a short period. For us, we never intended to keep this old aircraft type for long. Utilising the aircraft to help us expand our operarions was our only motive. Though we intended to only retire the aircraft in 2026, moving the plans a whole 7 years ahead would help us to cut maintenance costs and proceed with further fleet rationalisation, reducing the number of aircraft types in our fleet," said Mr Li Mingxiang, CEO of Phoenix Airlines. "We will take this opportunity to stock take and kickstart this process, now that we have stabilised and our operations are going strong."

Due to the retirement of the aircraft, flights operated by DC8 will be replaced by other aircraft. Details of the changed flight is stated below. Affected passengers have been contacted by email. We would like passengers to leave their contact number by the "Manage My Booking" function to get the latest updates to their flights, especially if they are travelling between now and 30th September on the below flights.
