You have to make sure that when a plane lands, there is an available gate for it to go to. For example if you are going to have 2 aircraft on the ground at the same time, you'll need 2 gates. Otherwise the plane will have to park elsewhere causing a slight delay, and the passengers will have to walk or be bussed back to the terminal.
