Global Airways has taken delivery of two more Airbus A340-500s, allowing routes to Canberra and Jakarta to be opened. At 101 and almost 150 miles longer than the New York - Sydney flight, respectively, they are now the two longest routes in the world. Global Airways therefore now operates all three of the longest commercial flights. Additional purchases of used Boeing 777-200s have allowed Global Airways to begin operating many new routes to Europe, a few notable examples being Madrid, Frankfurt, Copenhagen, and London Gatwick. The 777-200 will be replaced on all routes it currently operates by the 777-300ER as more aircraft of the type are delivered, as has already happened on the JFK-LGW route (JFK-LHR is currently still operated by the 777-200).

In other news, Global Airways has placed an order for fifteen Boeing 737 MAX 9s. While this strays from the previous widebody-only fleet plan, there is a reason behind the decision to do so - these aircraft will all be configured with sixteen First Class suites and an on-board lounge, and will fly Global Airways customers in luxury and style to western European destinations. The first of these aircraft will be delivered on July 26th, and enter service on a yet to be decided route the next day.
