Cargo

But then people would spam manual flights, like what apparently happened in CA...

I think he means generating cargo contracts like "transport X tons of product A from Y to Z" and you have a time limit, end of the week or month or whatever. Airlines could bid on different contracts possibly. Just a general idea, I haven't planned it out too much yet.

that would be in addition to just the basic demand between cities.

Also I was planning on implementing worldwide "events" that would increase/decrease demand of both cargo and passenger to various areas.

Will that include natural disaster relief flights too?

I'm not sure if it will be linked to real world events or not, I'm leaning towards not.

Events will be awesome. Why not make it a city specific event? Like "50% demand increase at LGA/JFK/EWR on Superbowl weekend"

As long as the events are really happeneing, I would personally see no issue with that, and I think it would be a great opportunity for charter airlines, especially.

I agree. We should see more demand in certain seasons too, like Chinese New Year when the Chinese people like to fly back to their homes to celebrate with their families, and Christmas vacation times too Big Grin.

the only issue I foresee is people not being happy that "their" event/holiday is not in the game.

That is true. But why not just increase passenger flow in those seasons where they really do increase in the real world? No need to specifcally do them for holidays.

True, but wouldn't that take forever to implement?

Practicality aside, I think this would be a great idea.

I also think we need to implement events that either reduce demand or cause delays, such as storms, airport maintenance, etc. For example, Milan Linate airport will have to close next year in order to do heavy maintenance on its only runway, so all flights are going to BGY and MXP instead.
