The only thing that sucked was that I booked last minute tickets, with Southwest offering free rebookings to AUS, DAL, or SAT for passengers going to HOU, so I paid $600 for a ticket that would normally run me about $150. Oh, and people panicked and bought a ton of gas, causing prices to go up like a dollar in some areas, even Austin, since a lot of the refineries are around Houston.

Wow things get busy when a storm is predicted to hit in your area huh? In Singapore thunderstorms happen all the time, and no one bothers Tongue.

It was a hurricane

I was going to see my sister and I didn’t even think about it so I was driving up there and got to i26 on 95to go west and they had it shut down so I just turned around so I had a nice long test ride for the new tune in my truck Tongue

But one thing I gotta give all the people from the Carolinas and Virginia none are panicking unlike the people in Florida when one is supposed to come. When one comes here it’s like a normal day idk why everyone panics tbh
For Florida, hurricanes are annual norms right? Big Grin

Ehh tropical storms yes but hurricanes no but the random storms we get during the day lots of times do way more damage than the hurricanes that come through. The people in Florida are so crazy and panic so much when Irma came through last year when prepping for it the trucks delivering the plywood had to be escorted by state troopers
Yea we don't normally get hit directly, I'm just happy that its now a Cat 2 so my house should hopefully still be there when I get back.

And I can kinda get why NC and SC are freaking out cause of the flooding we got from Mathew a few years ago, that hurricane seriously caused like half of NC to be blocked off due to the flooding on 95,40, and 74
Yeah, luckily during Harvey all my town got was ran and some flooding on roads but not too bad.

The sad thing is that the US is really like a third world nation when it comes to storms like this. They just have barely invested into dykes and the likes to keep things safe instead they board up, pray and run.

Well, New Orleans was destroyed in Katrina because the levees broke, letting in floodwater from the lake.

Actually the Levees broke after the storm and they broke cause they where not up to par. It is just not something that is considered let alone prioritized by the state and federal government in the US. Here in the Netherlands it is an integral part of the government agencies in charge of the matters, it costs a fortune, but well we learned the hard way what happens if you are not prepared.

Haha it's funny that TACA 110 landed on a new Orleans levee and both were fine. However, a plane is a much smaller force than a hurricane haha
