Future Airline Names
#1
Hey guys,

As progress towards the live beta of the game is made more and more every day, I thought I'd make use of this section of the forum and ask everybody a few questions.

1: Do you have an airline name? If yes, what's the potential name?
2: What's the background of the airline, if you have one already "made up"?
3: Where will your airline be HQ'ed and where will be your primary focus of initial operations?
4: What's your airline's main goals of growth?
5: What's your airline's "ultimate goal"?

Here's my airline, for example.

My airline idea is currently American Starlines. The background will be it's comprised of a group of former Air Force pilots who pooled together to start a business in the airline industry, to continue their interest in aviation. The airline's HQ will be based in Omaha, as most of the veterans were from the Ouffut Air Force base in Bellevue, just south of Omaha. The initial focus of operations will take place in the midwest. Future plans include setting hubs in Chicago O'Hare, Philadelphia International, Orlando International, Houston Intercontinental, and Portland International. Those hubs will serve as gateways to other regions, IE: O'hare = Canada and Europe, Philly = Africa/Eastern Europe, Orlando = Carribbean and South America, Houston = Central America & Oceania, and Portland = Alaska/Asia. Eventually hubs will be established in those other continents. The goal of the airline is to fly the skies with passion and heart, putting pride and care into every flight, all while making sure everyone get home safe. The airline eventually strives to become a power player not only in America, but the world.  Smile

I've got two options:

1. Astra (If that is allowed by Carde). Owned by BLTB Aviation Holdings, a subsidiary of the (made up) Birmingham-London Transatlantic Banking Corporation - this is all for roleplay purposes. Based in London Heathrow, flying to Europe and the Americas. Will probably operate E-Jets, A32X-family planes and A330s. Not a flag carrier, not a low-cost airline, but something in between. Decent quality service.

2. EuroAir - privately owned company based in the Netherlands, flying all over Europe. Not as low-cost as easyJet, Ryanair and Vueling, but quite low prices nevertheless. Will operate A320/321s or the 737 family. Perhaps some expansion into long-range with second-hand planes. Main objective is to provide cheap and accessible air travel. This'll create a lot of opportunities to create interesting liveries - advertising, that sort of thing.

Still undecided, and might even do something else entirely.

Got a few names in mind not yet decided.

2: What's the background of the airline, if you have one already "made up"?
It is pretty much the flying PR company for a large family owned business from Vancouver Canada. Owned by the father and his two children they operate anything from insurance companies to engineering companies. Until now their focus has been selling to other businesses so their name is not really well known outside of the Vancouver area.

3: Where will your airline be HQ'ed and where will be your primary focus of initial operations?
Vancouver and USA+Asia and some Western Europe.

4: What's your airline's main goals of growth?
Reputation, it is as I said the flying PR company, it should not loose money, but profit is not it's raw goal. It is meant to carry the business name across the globe as they plan to move into the consumer markets.

5: What's your airline's "ultimate goal"?
Nick the flag carrier title from Air Canada Smile

1: Do you have an airline name? If yes, what's the potential name?
Although I'm not completely certain of the name, I was thinking given its base in France I would call it "Air Liberté" or Liberty Airlines (depending if I wish to anglicize the name as other french carriers have done such as French Blue)

2: What's the background of the airline, if you have one already "made up"?
Obviously it would not be state funded like Air France, and would probably be centered around a traditional patriarchal wealthy family, a fictional name could be "Lockart" (my french grandmother's madden name). It's aim would be to rejuvenate the french airline market around competitive pricing, intelligent price compartmentalization and good IT services for a quality marketing and communication strategy. Striking a similar vibe to the minimalist modern carriers, a clean all around business look with nich-aircraft picking (such as LR Airbus 321s from Paris to the East Coast).

3: Where will your airline be HQ'ed and where will be your primary focus of initial operations?
I would like it to start in Bordeaux as a traditional yet booming city in the french economy. It would offer some second-tier services to less competitive European destinations first, establishing a solid basis of frequent flyers until we hit the rest of the market (business hubs, taking over Paris, dominating both a wide network and seasonal holiday destinations).

4: What's your airline's main goals of growth?
-Become a competitive alternative to Air France whilst diversifying its operations through a low cost branch (to kick out Easyjet and Norwegian Air Shuttle from the market along with Volotea and Vueling) whilst not forgetting the traditional french overseas destinations (La Réunion, Martinique, Guadeloupe, Abidjan, Dakar, Algers, Beirut, etc).

5: What's your airline's "ultimate goal"?
Become a French reference for travel whilst maintaining the traditional reputation Air France has achieved, make it seem like an 'organic' home-grown company with a touch of 'French tech' and young vibrant corporate ethic.
