Message from our CEO
As we enter the halfway mark of our busy 2019, we have took this opportunity to revamp our marketing strategies, as well as look at our destination list and really work on serving a bigger customer and expanding our operations.
Despite numerous challenges to our expansion plans, Phoenix Airlines has successfully got the approval to launch numerous routes from our Beijing and Shanghai hubs. These new routes come in line with our plans to connect more people to China, and to strengthen China's position as a future aviation hub. Really unbelievable things are coming your way, as we work on a plan to expand to more destinations to serve all our loyal customers.
In an article later, we also explained our decision to purchase new planes like the B742, showing how much consideration we had in terms of expanding the airline's reach as well as ensuring that the aircraft is well suited to meet our needs. Do read the article to understand more about our fleet!
Route Updates!
Phoenix Airlines is going worldwide! Judging by the consumer demand, we have moved away from expanding our regional routes to go further and international! As a result, we have started to launch new routes worldwide, and made numerous adjustments to our International schedule.
Firstly, we look at our European routes. Moving away from London, we have added Tel Aviv in Israel, Helsinki in Finland, and Athens in Greece to our destination list as part of our expansion into Europe. These routes are part of our plans to connect China to Europe. President Xi Jinping promised to restore the land Silk Road between China and Europe. Now, we will create the Silk Road of the air, as we gain access to more airports in Europe. Stay tuned for more flights into European airports such as Munich, Madrid, Rome, Dublin and Frankfurt!
Next, we look at our routes into USA and Australia. As part of our plans to connect Asia and Oceania to North America, we have included this two markets on our radar, and considered how we would best serve these two markets. As part of our plans to bring the Phoenix Airline brand to America, we will now offer thrice weekly flights into LA and Phoenix Sky Harbor from Shanghai Pudong. Together with this expansion into America, we will also be offering four times weekly flights into Perth and Sydney from our Shanghai headquarters. These routes will take effect on the 30th August 2019, subject to approval from regulatory authorities.
Not forgetting our regional routes, we will also be offering flights into Jeju, Seoul and Osaka, starting on 14th May 2019. Furthermore, we have more planned flights into Manila, Tokyo, Fukuoka, Singapore and Hanoi along the way, allowing for better connectivity from China into our regional destinations!
Phoenix Airline is looking forward to your opinions! Do you have a destination in mind you want us to serve? You may contact us on our Facebook page, as well as the contact page on our website! If your suggestion is taken up by us, you will stand a chance to win Phoenix Business tickets to that destination! We look forward to hearing more from you.
Phoenix Airlines signs agreement to purchase used aircraft to help in airline's expansion
As part of Phoenix Airline's expansion plans, we have decided to purchase more used aircraft to complement our fleet. These used aircraft purchase are part of our efforts to serve our passengers effectively without having to use poorly maintained aircraft. These used aircraft are carefully selected to ensure the good maintenance of the frame, as well as ensuring that there are little faults with our aircraft. While we are purchasing the aircraft and using aged aircraft, we ensure that the aircraft is safe and airworthy.
Phoenix Airlines will be purchasing a number second-hand Boeing 747-200s as well as Douglas DC-8-73s, both of which are selected for their range and relatively lower fuel requirements. These aircraft will be refitted with seats and repainted to ensure they look as good as new. These aircraft would eventually be replaced with other newer and more fuel efficient planes as time goes by.

Letter from a Phoenix Airline passenger
I still remember the first time I flew Phoenix Airline. At that point in time I was going to Tel Aviv for a business trip as well as to watch the 2019 Eurovision song contest. I had an option of flying with Phoenix Airline as they were one of the 2 airlines that flew to the location. As I did not fly with either airlines before, I decided to try it out, flying Phoenix Airline on my return from Tel Aviv.
I still remember when I went to the departure gate and saw the Super 70 aircraft on the tarmac. Being born in that era, I have taken flights on Douglas' Super 60/70 series, but after so many years I never expected to see another Super 70, let alone have a ride on it. Of course, everyone may feel the creeps taking a flight on such an old aircraft, but I having rode a Concorde to Tel Aviv, I decided to gamble again to see how this flight would feel.
Having purchased a EconomyFlex ticket, I was presently surprised to see less than 100 seats in the aircraft. Compared against many modern B757 aircraft operated by other airlines, this aircraft clearly has much lesser seats than others. The legroom provided for my seat is so huge that I thought I purchased a Business Class ticket instead. (It was comparable to the other airline's Economy Premium, but I paid slightly more than half that price for this ticket) The seat also features huge recline that allows me to take a nap quite comfortably.
When taking such a full service airline, one thing that I am always particularly concerned about is the airline's In-Flight Entertainment System. I was presently shocked when I realised how many movies and television drama series it offered, including popular series like the recent Chinese drama series Eternal Love, as well as the popular blockbuster Avengers:Infinity War. I was also able to catch up on another television singing competition, Produce Camp 2019! Although the screen was a bit small and picture quality not as good as some other airlines, overall it was quite a nice experience given the variety of shows and songs featured on the Entertainment system.
The food offered was good. I was given an option between Baked Cheese Rice with Pork and Meatball Spaghetti. I chose the Baked Cheese Rice, and was pleasantly surprised to see it offered hot (just like out of the oven). The cheese rice also tasted quite nice, and was quite comparable to the cheese rice we can get in restaurants. The air stewards and stewardess was also really nice, helping me recline my seat when I didn't know how to do so, and providing me with various drinks that I requested throughout the flight. Having 2 stewardess to my EconomyFlex section also helped to ensure that our requests were attended to quickly.
Overall, the experience was a really good one. I chose to sign up with their Phoenix Club membership, as well as booked tickets with the airline for my next trip to Nur-sultan! Thank you Phoenix Airlines for providing me with a good flying experience!
More routes with our DC 8-73
After much consideration, Phoenix Airlines has decided to purchase more DC-8-73 and make this Super 70 aircraft a mainstay of our airline. Currently, our aircraft is on a 81-seat four class configuration, but we will be retrofitting the aircraft to a 141-seat three class configuration to better serve your needs.
As following will be the routes that will be served with the DC-8-73. Please take note that some routes have time changes as highlighted in Yellow. Affected passengers will have been informed via email about the changes. Thank you.

Adjustments to flight timings - 10th July 2019
Phoenix Airlines is currently transforming its operations to streamline the operations. This involves changing aircraft types for certain flights, launching certain new routes, as well as moving the aircrafts back to China bases for overseas-based aircrafts.
During this period (between July and August 2019), certain routes may be adjusted at short notice. Some flights are adjusted to ensure that the connecting passengers can reduce their waiting time at our hub airports. Affected passengers have been informed by the change a few weeks ago, and passengers making reservations for these flights online have noted that there is a warning when booking, that times might change at short notice. For this round of changes, we will be adding 2 new flights, as well as re-timing some of our other flights. These changes take effect 10th July 2019, with the exception of the new flights to Baku and Vladivostok, which begins on the 13th. Please see below for the changes, as highlighted in yellow. Thank You.

Plans for North American operations revealed in exclusive interview.
New York City - In an exclusive interview with the New York Times, Chairman of Phoenix Airlines Group Mr Zhou Litian has highlighted that Phoenix Airlines has huge plans for a large-scale "invasion" of North America, including a launch of flights from 6 "selected" cities to no less than 11 cities in United States.
Mr Zhou, in the interview, highlighted how the North American market has always been a market that they have been targeting at, and that they have already made a master plan to launch numerous flights into United States. "Feeder traffic from the North American nations, especially United States, have always been something that the airline has always been targeting for. Utilising China as a connection hub into Asia and Oceania is something that Phoenix Airlines wants to achieve, and this is why the plans for North America has long been laid out," he replied, when asked about the importance of USA as a market. "Unlike our plans for other regions, we have a detailed list of routes that we plan to launch and hubs that would allow our inbound traffic from North America to transit to plans to Asia and Oceania. Our first flights to Phoenix and Los Angeles, coming soon in August, are just the tip of the iceberg." He added that the cities the airline intends to serve include Boston, Atlanta, Indianapolis, Denver, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Seattle, New York, Chicago, Dallas, and Houston, as well as Toronto, Vancouver and Mexico City in the neighbouring North American countries. "In fact, we will soon be opening reservations for flights from Beijing to Vancouver and Los Angeles, and we plan to launch them by Winter 2019," he added. "And we are in discussions for a possible double-airport situation in New York."
Mr Zhou also made no secret about his plans to purchase different widebodies from Boeing and Airbus. "Currently, we have firm agreements for Boeing 777-9 as well as the A330-900neo. We have also made other agreements with both companies which will be announced at a later date. Together with our second-hand 747s, this would allow us to increase our capacity." He also talked about the airline's plans to fly to smaller regional airports around the world. "First Tel Aviv, then Nur-sultan, now Baku. Someone has been asking me if Tehran would be next on the list," he joked. "Honestly, I believe that small airports and unconventional destinations need to be served, and therefore we would surprise you every now and then with new routes. Alexandria and Ankara would definitely be locations you can look forward to."
To round up the interview, there was also a brief talk about the opening of Beijing Daxing International Airport. "We don't think we would be moving to the new airport, we should be staying at Beijing Capital unless the situation calls for it. However, the opening of the airport would definitely benefit China's aviation industry as a whole, and we look forward to the opening on the 30th of September."

Announcement of new flights
Vancouver - Phoenix Airlines has announced more flights to North America, with the launch of flights from Beijing to Los Angeles, as well as flights from Beijing and Shanghai to Vancouver. These are part of Phoenix Airlines' attempt to connect North America to Asia, utilising China as a transit hub for the passengers going between both countries.
At Vancouver Airport today, the airport authorities and the Phoenix Airlines management signed an agreement to welcome Phoenix Airlines into the airport, starting with a PVG-YVR route that has a 1 time frequency on a brand-new Airbus A350-900, which was recently delivered to the airline as part of a lease agreement with BOC Aviation. The A350-900's addition to Phoenix Airlines' fleet would help to boost the airline's capacity in terms of long haul traffic, and further boost the airline's position as one of China's best airlines.
The A350-900, currently leased but will soon become fully owned by the airline, boost Phoenix Airlines' award-winning Phoenix Suites, as well as the "half-suite" variation of in the Business class. Seating only 188 passengers as compared to the aircraft's exit limit of 440, it definitely boosts a less dense configuration that features huge seat pitch and seat width that is definitely incomparable as compared to other airlines' average of 250 passengers.
Phoenix Airlines will fly the A350 on its Shanghai-Vancouver route, starting on the 15th July. It will then be followed by a Beijing-Vancouver route complimenting the Shanghai route, which will start with 4 times weekly on the B747 aircraft. Furthermore, apart from the confirmed flights to Los Angeles from Shanghai, the airline will also launch the Beijing-Los Angeles route, which will operate 3 times weekly. The schedule for these 3 flights can be seen below. You may also see our full flight schedule here: Phoenix Airlines' Flight Schedule.
Reservations for these 3 flights will begin on 14th July 2019, 1200 UTC.

Thanks! For me I tend to micromanage all my things, by keeping a record of flights launched and ensuring that I keep updating what I have launched, so therefore I utilise the information to help me rp. Generally in rping, the most important thing is your story. In the case of an airline, it would be things such as your airline branding, your airline history, etc. Of course if you are creative and imaginative, you can always rp characters related to your airline and the entire backstory. (Like Carde), but for me I would prefer going more content heavy with press releases and model after the in-flight magazine. Ultimately, as in any form of rp, everyone's style is different, so u need to think about how you want to do it.

Note: When referring to airlines and routes in this role-play article, it refers to in-game routes. There may also be references to IRL events, such as the Typhoon Lekima, Hong Kong protests, and others.
(Location: New York-JFK Airport, at the gate)
Mr Li waited for all the passengers to board the aircraft. Seated beside our CEO of Phoenix Airlines was Ms Lucy Barker, the Director of Operations (Europe, USA and Canada). Ms Barker is a British citizen aged 40, but had previous experience working in American airlines This was the reason why she was picked by the Board for this very important role as the Director for Operations, especially being in charge of Phoenix Airlines' most important markets, namely Europe, and America.
For the both of them, they were travelling alone. There was also Mr Marcus Operson, the Director for Operations (Latin America), who rushed over from the nearby LaGuardia Airport after arriving into that airport from Sao Paulo at 6.50am. Mr Operson hurried walked into the holding area with his baggage, and bowed to Mr Li. "Sorry for being late, it's just that there were lots of problems with regards to arriving at an airport that is not supposed to have customs, as well as the morning peak hour traffic."
"No need to apologise. You can of course share with us your experience with that airline later on the plane. Let's go and not keep the passengers waiting for us, it will definitely look bad on us and the airline," interrupted Mr Li, as he stood up and took his baggage.
As they went to the top floor of the aircraft, which only had 4 Phoenix Suite seats, the cabin crew in charge looked at them with surprise. "Well what a surprise! I wasn't informed I would be serving 3 special guests today!" she exclaimed. "I guess we are here to spot check on our cabin service?" Mr Li joked as they took their seats. "Oh and by the way, you don't have to seat on that miserable cabin crew seat and take the last suite behind. We left it intentionally empty." The cabin crew was so surprised that she thanked the Directors for their kindness.
The plane took off as per schedule, in the early morning, and back to New York. "We are lucky to get a seat on this 747 with the upper floor to ourselves. With the Typhoon Lekima cancelling lots of flights back home in Shanghai, we had rescheduled numerous flights to cater to our passengers and it forced my secretary and some of the other people who attended the meeting here in New York to split up and take other flights," said Mr Li. "Of course I had arranged for the 2 of you together, because we are here to discuss important issues with regards to our expansion in America, as well as for the both of you to help me gather feedback from the passengers below later," said Mr Li. "Clearly Marcus was prepared by choosing to take a flight from that rival of ours to come back to America and join us. They didn't suspect anything, did they?"
"Why would they suspect anything? I am just an ordinary American traveller returning to America. They don't even know my home town is in Houston for that matter. My the ticket prices are sky high that I just pity the New Yorkers for having to pay for such exorbitant prices. Nevertheless the services is quite good, so probably that makes up for that," replied Mr Operson as he described his experience flying on a rival airline from Sao Paulo to New York.
"That is good, and we can adopt some of the good things of that airline. Really though, the main issue here is about our operations to America and Canada. As the both of you know the China-America route business is really huge, and we do have to discuss about the current and future plans for our flights to America. For our impending major routes press conference, we are intending to launch numerous America bound routes, including one to Indianapolis, additional frequency into New York, Phoenix and LA, and the new "Major Airport Express" connecting Beijing to Atlanta. Apart from that, Lucy also has a few routes in mind and the arrangements needs to be discussed, because the use of aircraft needs to be arranged." Ms Barker nods. "However, Marcus, I need you here because as an American, you understand the needs of your fellow Americans, and could you provide some insights into some of the suggestions?"
As Mr Operson looks through the list of proposed routes, he points at certain routes and makes comments. "Clearly this PVG-IND and CAN-IND are preemptive flights targeted at some airline," he commented. "I think the Capital Express should be served to Washington Dulles and not Baltimore? I think despite the cheap gates at Baltimore, Dulles seems like a more attractive airport with better facilities." He looked through the list, which looks quite scary if you take a look at the list here:
"Really aircraft arrangements are a headache, if you ask me I feel like there is a need to purchase the Dreamliners to help with small thin routes," said Mr Li. "But otherwise you find the routes okay?" Mr Operson nods. "Fine than Marcus, what about your Ultra-Long Route?"
"Oh I was just thinking of asking Lucy, how about a combination with a flight to Munich? I have secured an agreement to move the time slot to a better time, and use this combination of flights instead."
Ms Barker looks at the plan with interest, while Mr Li excuses himself to answer a phone call (yes with free internet on the plane for Phoenix Suites tickets you can take internet calls). "I guess its cool? I have often been accused of focusing too much on America that I forget about Europe."
Mr Li returns to the group. "Sorry for leaving, I just heard from the Chinese authorities that they are banning all Chinese airlines from ferrying passengers who participated in the Hong Kong protests, and have provided a list to us for our compliance," he said.
Ms Barker and Mr Operson stared at Mr Li. "Mr Li, why not let us move downstairs to have a chat with our fellow passengers?" said Ms Barker. With that, the three of them walked down to talk to passengers from all the different classes.
(Press Conference, 15th Aug 2019, at Phoenix Airlines Headquarters Conference Room, Pudong New Zone, Shanghai
The group gathered and sat down, as the invited local and foreign journalists started taking photos. The group of Airline Operations Managers publicly came together for the first time, together with Chairman Mr Zhou Litian, CEO Mr Li Ming Xiang.
Chairman Zhou was the first to speak. “Good afternoon to all, I am Mr Zhou Litian, Chairman of the Phoenix Airlines Group. Welcome all to our biannual route launch press conference. Today, we will be sharing with you, as well as our loyal customers, updates with regards to Phoenix Airlines' route offerings as well as providing a summary of what more to expect from the airline for the next 6 months. This was previously scheduled for early August, but with the recent Typhoon Lekima, as well as other issues that cropped up, we have delayed this press conference till today."
"December 2018 was when we first started. Launching our first flights, we started operations from our base in Shanghai Pudong International Airport, as begun serving the wider Chinese public as well as tourists from overseas interested to come to China and explore what we have to offer. Phoenix Airlines is one of China's largest airlines today, having experienced a huge growth rate. We were recently listed on many Aviation Magazines as the "Fastest Growing Airline" in Asia, as well as one of the top 10 in the world. Today, we are launching more than 50 new routes to different places in Asia, Europe and America, as well as announcing various increases in capacity as we obtain more aircraft to increase our route capacity. Of course, the list we are providing today is incomplete, you can expect more updates through our press releases of certain routes, as we are in the midst of discussion with the relevant authorities. Just this morning, I have heard that we have secured an agreement with the Milan Malpensa airport authorities for 2 slots in the airport starting mid-October. This was after months of discussion and delays, due to various mitigating factors such as the temporary closure of Milan Linate airport, as well as uncertainties surrounding the Beijing Capital Airport slots when some of the airlines move to the new Daxing Airport."
"One of the most important markets we are targeting is the American market. We are currently planning for numerous new flights to USA, apart from the list you will hear later. We have plans to increase our flights from New York area to 15 daily, flying from New York to major Chinese cities including Xiamen, Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Kunming, and Chongqing. Apart from that, we have also confirmed additional flights into popular destinations, including Los Angeles, Indianapolis, Boston, San Francisco, Dallas and Phoenix. We are also starting to shift our focus to the Indian aviation market, which is one of the biggest market in the world. These are future plans which you can expect from us.
"Without further ado, let us invite Mr Salami bin Yusof, Manager for Airline Operations (Middle East and Africa), who will tell us more about new flights to the area."
Mr Salami bin Yusof: "Thank you Mr Zhou. For a start, I will be talking about Phoenix Airline Operations in Middle East and Africa. This market is a rising market, given the increasing use of Middle Eastern airports such as Dubai and Abu Dhabi for transit, as well as the increasing demand for flights to Middle East. As a result, we are starting to launch flights to these major airports, and as you can see here, we are launching various flights to Dubai, Doha, Muscat, Abu Dhabi and Riydah. "
"For your information, those highlighted in yellow refer to flights that are launched with effect next Monday, while those highlighted in blue are flights that are launched in the coming weeks to come." He makes a pause. "Apart from our major routes PEK-DXB and PVG-AUH, we are also looking even further. We will also be launching flights to Kuwait, Cairo, Cape Town and Johannesburg which will be confirmed in the coming weeks. This will help to complement our current operations and reach out to a bigger customer base!"
Next came Mrs Han Seok Cheng: "Hi I am Mrs Han, the Manager of Airline Operations in charge of South and Central Asia. This is a region which our airline has particular emphasis on. With India being a fast rising market, as well as a demand for China-Central Asia flights, we have a strong emphasis on this region as we aim to reach out to this market which is relatively untouched. Our previously launched flights to Nur-sultan, Baku, etc, highlights how much Central Asia means to us. This time round, we moved towards the Indian market, and launched few routes to begin our plan to connect India and China together. Though there may not be many new flights, we are excited to announce that there will be more flights from Beijing, Guangzhou, Chengdu and Nanjing to Delhi, as well as flights from Beijing, Shenzhen, Haikou and Kunming to Mumbai that are coming your way by the end of the year. Stay tuned for more details as we iron out the flight details."
Mr Adam Bickerson, Manager of Airline Operations (Oceania and South East Asia) continued by talking about the South East Asia market. "China is proud to be a leading partner of the Association of South-East Nations. People in South East Asia often fly to China to visit our beautiful country. Businessman often fly from China to other nations in South East Asia to discuss business with their partners in South East Asia. Noting the importance of South East Asia to China, we have an added emphasis on the South East Asian market, and have started with flights to Vietnam, Myanmar, as well as the first flights to Philippines, while adjusting our Shanghai-Singapore route (highlighted in Orange). "
"Furthermore, after collecting feedback, we have seen that many people are excited about our flights to Sydney and Perth, and demand was so huge that flights all the way till end November are full! As a result, we have decided to increase our frequency with effect 26th August, adding 3 more flights to make the flight operate daily. A second frequency from Shanghai, as well as a new frequency from Guangzhou will also be coming soon in the months to come, so stay tuned to our social media platforms to find out more! In fact, all Phoenix Club members will also receive new updates as soon as we have them, so they will be first to know about the new flights! If you are interested, do sign up to be a Club member and join our Phoenix Airline family as we fly you to places that you wish to go."
Ms Lucy Barker and Mr Marcus Operson came up together. "The highlight of our press announcement today comes from our new routes and route adjustments," begun Ms Lucy Barker. "We start by looking at our future European operations. After our successes with flights to London, we have decided to continue the momentum by expanding our operations at London, as well as add flights to Paris, Frankfurt and Munich. Our Guangzhou-Helsinki flight was so well received that we chose to increase the capacity on the route, upgrading from a DC-8-73 all the way to a B747, increasing the capacity by more than 1.5 times! There are also slight time adjustments made in the process to ensure that we have flights departing the various cities around the clock. For instance, from Paris, you can take an early morning flight to Shanghai, or a late afternoon flight to Beijing."
Mr Marcus Operson continued with the announcement. "We went all out with our American operations. Looking at the North American flight list here, you can see how committed we are to the market. Apart from increasing the frequency on our Shanghai-Phoenix and Shanghai-LA flights, we strengthened our presence on the West Coast by launching flights to Seattle and San Francisco. We also aim to become the biggest foreign operator in New York, as we are launching our second daily flight to New York with our B747 aircraft. This new frequency will give passengers in the East Coast more choices with an additional choice of a 9.30am departure, together with our adjusted afternoon departure time of 4.40pm for the current flight. Beijing-New York is also on our shortlist for new flights as we are in the midst of negotiating new slots and John F. Kennedy Airport. Apart from New York, Indianapolis is also recognised as an important airport in our American expansion plans, given the sheer amount of passengers transiting through the airport due to a local airline. We start with one flight to Indianapolis from Shanghai, and will be collecting feedback before adding a new frequency."
Mr Wei Bozhi joined the two of them in front. "Being the Manager in charge of fleet and crew scheduling, long haul flights are the hardest to schedule as we have to rotate the aircraft used and ensure that the aircraft has sufficient downtime for maintenance, and also enough cabin crew to properly serve the flight. However, we remain committed to flying long and far, and this is why we have decided to launch the world's longest flight, between Guangzhou and Sao Paulo, on our new Airbus 350-900 Ultra Long Range variation. This flight will operate 4 times weekly, serving one of Brazil's biggest cities and flying the passengers to China." The announcement was met with thunderous applause, as the Chinese song "I love you China" was played in the background.
Mr Ma Xing came forward next. "Of course, with so many international flights, we need to ensure that our Chinese people have access to these flights. We have launched an entire series of flights to cater to our domestic customers, and connecting them from one place to another. Hopefully, this will allow more people to access to good and cheap flight services."
"Of course, not forgetting our fellow comrades in Hong Kong and Macau. Though this list is small, we are committed to serving our fellow comrades in Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan. I also leave you with list of flights to Tokyo, which will be part of our slow and steady move into Japan and Korea, serving our friends from neighbouring countries."

Phoenix Airlines launches "City Connection" Routes, opens routes to Taipei
Shanghai - Phoenix Airlines today launched the "City Connection" Routes, a series of routes which aims to cut down travel between major cities in East Asia by 5 to 15 minutes, catering to businessman and office workers living in one city but working in the other.
This set of "City Connection" Routes aims to connect 6 major cities in East Asia, namely, Seoul, Tokyo, Taipei, Shanghai, Macau and Hong Kong, by offering flights to the airports located close to the city center, namely Seoul Gimpo, Tokyo Haneda, Taipei Songshan, Shanghai Hongqiao. Phoenix Airlines, as a China-based airline, would be offering flights to Gimpo, Haneda, Songshan, Macau and Hong Kong from our Shanghai Hongqiao domestic hub. "The launch of this City Connection Route, with Shanghai Hongqiao as the center, would allow us to reduce our reliance on O&D flights from Shanghai Hongqiao. Apart from giving people living and working in Shanghai easy access to the other cities, it also helps to boost our capacity on our international flights to Seoul and Tokyo, as well as increase connections to Hong Kong, Macau and Taipei from Shanghai," said Mr Ma Xing, Director of Airline Operations (Domestic and East Asia). "With Gimpo, Songshan and Haneda being closer to the city center as compared to Incheon, Taoyuan and Nartia respectively, it allows passengers to travel to Seoul and Taipei city centers from Shanghai in 2 hours, and reach the Tokyo central in under 3 hours. These would greatly increase the connectivity between these major cities of East Asia, and make travelling between these cities easier for business workers."
The launch of flights to Songshan also coincide with the launch of flights to Taipei Taoyuan. Mr Ma was also stressing on the importance of these routes to Taipei. "Connecting to our comrades across the Straits would allow them to travel to China more easily. Furthermore, as one of the fastest growing airlines in the world, these flights to Taipei would give our comrades to opportunity to enjoy Phoenix Airlines' world class service. Phoenix Airlines flies to over 60 destinations outside of China, Macau, Hong Kong and Taiwan, and more than 30 destinations within mainland China. With our extensive service, there will definitely be a flight for everyone."
Flights to Taipei Taoyuan, Taipei Songshan and Seoul Gimpo have already been open for reservations. As for flights to Tokyo Haneda, the flights will be open for reservations by 6th October, starting towards end-October. It is expected that Phoenix Airlines will launch Beijing-Haneda, Shanghai Pudong/Hongqiao-Haneda for the first flights to Haneda, but further details will only come in the weeks to come.
As for flights to Seoul, passengers flying from and to Seoul may expect certain schedule changes, regardless of whether they are flying into Gimpo or Incheon. This is because of flight route restrictions as well as realignment of schedule that caters to the inbound flights from America and Europe. Affected passengers would be informed by their phone number and the email. If in doubt, passengers can also contact the local sales office for details.
