Yeah that's kinda what I hate about F1. That would never fly in NASCAR. Except for maybe the final championship race.

Classic Talladega, gotta love it!

And just because why not, here's the finish but with French commentary... I can't understand a word but they sure have a lot more enthusiasm than the american commentators do! There;s also a spanish one but I cant find it

Congrats to Hamilton, that was a great F1 race this morning. Also hats off to Kimi for making that little boy's day lol, that was awesome.

And hoping for a speedy recovery for Aric Almirola too. Safety crews had to extract him from his car last night after a hard crash with Danica and Logano.

Verstappen was rather furious about the whole thing at first, needed some time to cool before he would talk to anyone. Kimi, well Kimi was Kimi cool as ever and got bonus points to make the kid happy.

Hamilton just had a great race, Vettel will no doubt whine about something and I am glad to see Riccardo in third, he seems one of the nicer ones around, but that might just be Aussie charm Smile

Great race that was!

I do like Riccardo, wish the red bulls had more power to take the fight to the mercs and ferrari, that would certainly spice up the drivers championship.

Also Sauber will be switching to Honda next year... not sure about that. But iirc they are stuck using year-old ferrari engines now, so maybe long-term if Honda can improve it won't be a bad move.

Yeah I believe they have a new engine inbound for the Red Bulls, they just need more power, chassis and aero wise they are easily on par if not better. They just need classic old engine grunt. Still it is to late to make any throws at the top this season, but still seeing them being equal to the mercs and ferraris would make for better racing specially seeing just the HUGE!!! gap that sits behind the red bulls, seriously the rest of the pack should be racing in F1.5. But hey that is part of F1 it is a technology race more so than a drivers race.

I will say though despite his constant wining I have grown to gather a bit more respect for Vettel, he clearly has a bit more talent than I thought he had.

As for the Honda engines I really don't know what is going on there, Honda has the know how to make some great engines, that said turbo stuff has never been their thing and something they only recently have been getting involved with and sadly turbos are not a 1.2.3 I know how it works kind of deal. Still getting more teams to use them would mean more data and hopefully a better engine. On the other hands I am really wondering if Mclaren does not feel like "Screw this shit we will build our own." cause they know how to, it is just they want to offload some of the costs. Still having the worst preforming F1 team is not a great bit of advertisement when you sell supercars.....

Two teams using Honda engines would certainly help their development. When you're limited to two cars, and they struggle to finish races as it is, it leaves you with very little data. There's also rumors of Volkswagen getting into formula 1, although I haven't heard much more about that recently.

Something that I've heard is being discussed is an open inspection process, allowing teams to look at their competitor's cars up-close and perhaps learn from it. The idea being it would close gap between the frontrunners and the midfielders. Cool article on it: https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/analy...f1-903516/
