Sounds like fun. Still lucky not to have to deal with whatever's going to happen with the executive branch in this country and of course the always woefully inept US Congress.

IF con is the opposite of pro, than congress has to be the opposite of progress Smile

In reality here politics gets nothing done, if they are not whining about each other they are discussing the faith of a single person. Fucking seriously you are getting paid to rule a country don't spend 3 weeks talking about a single person.

Anyhow nationalism is on a clear rise here, people all believe that the EU is evil (it aint, not that it is great, but yeah better in than out) and that all immigrants are just terrorists.

It's getting ridiculous (as if it wasn't already). Trump's national security advisor describes Islam as "a cancer". Where does this even end? At what point do people realize that someone is just not qualified to do anything, let alone run a country? And what are the republicans going to do? On one hand they will soon control the Senate, Congress, and White House, which, if you remember, was the opposite of what happened to Obama, making it hard for him to get anything done, but on the other hand the actual republican party...doesn't really approve of Trump, yet does not do anything to stop him. What do you guys think? Will they try to restrain him through the Congress and Senate?

Frankly it is hard to tell. From what I can read everyone is in chaos unsure what moves to makes right now and what to think.

Not sure when the democrats can get some control back in congress and senate to stem the tide perhaps and coast out the next 4 years. Even without that I doubt the Republican party will let the leash go to long on Trump, like it or not the US really could do without leading itself to bankruptcy by declaring a trade war on China and pissing off Mexico so much. Also withdrawing from foreign militairy bases would severely hinder it's ability to do what it always has done, a offensive defense. Though granted it would be a lovely wake up call to the EU if they pull out here. Let's be frank EU militairy spending is shockingly low and many stupid decisions are being made like the UK navy will not have anti ship missile capability for the next 2 years after which the new helicopter launched ones arrive and an other 2 years before they get new ship based systems........

Anyhow I really wonder how much he will be able to get done, I have a feeling they will let him bark, but limit his bite. If not than well maybe a god has the answer.

I have faith that he'll rise to the occasion. From what I've read he wants to push through a $1T infrastructure spending bill which is badly needed although don't know where the money to pay for that is coming from. I'm not entirely sure what will get done but I expect a lot to happen and good or bad, as someone who as derided the system for a total inability to do anything, I'll have to accept whatever they do as a step in the right direction whether or not I agree with what they do. It'll be especially tough for Democrats because by every indication they should've had a 3-4 seat majority in the Senate and this Trump wave blew that up and now they go into the 2018 midterms (which already tends to benefit Republicans) defending a ton of seats - many of which in states that Trump easily won. Vulnerable democrats will be hesitant to oppose Trump and even then will likely face a tough election battle that frankly speaking they will probably lose. I see it as entirely possible that post-2018 Republicans have the House, Presidency, and a super (filibuster proof) majority in the Senate meaning there would be zero way for Democrats to obstruct or even slow anything Republicans wanted to do. It's going to be an interesting, unique, non-traditional 4 years

That infrastructure bill would be the most sensible thing they can do, because frankly I am surprised it has not yet seen a total collapse. I has not seen proper maintenance and upgrades for far to long and I would not be surprised if far more money is needed.

In the meantime I am looking fearful at our upcoming elections, feels like the left is making the same mistakes here although the current right wing in charge fucked up a lot of things and did not keep a lot of promises, but than that is hardly something new. The downside of our system is that in the end there always needs to be a coalition to get a majority and that means everything is compromised and nothing really tends to get done properly.

I believe the number that has been given to properly repair everything is just shy of $3.4 trillion through 2020 so this by no means will fix everything but I think it's the closet thing to progress there has been on this issue in a long time so we'll see. He will lose the most conservative wing of the Republican Party on this (pending whatever his final proposal looks like) but Democrats will be all for it so he should be able to get it passed in both houses of Congress.

What? Is there a time limit on this that you have to get your last post in before? In that case, I win.
