Employees, Infrastructure & Game Reset
#1
Soon, you will be able to control the salaries and reserve levels of your employees. Additionally you will be able to manage your headquarters building, which will consist of making sure you have enough space for your office employees and deciding whether you want to lease your office or purchase it outright.

Your office will work in conjunction with employees, for instance if you have 100 office employees but your office capacity is too small, employee happiness will drop because you do not have room for all your employees. Happiness will also be affected by salary and reserve levels. If happiness is too low your attrition rate will be high, which can get expensive.

Most of this will be done automatically, I didn't want to make this a micro-management thing. There are default salaries and reserve levels that should maintain happy employees and keep your airline running smoothly. The only thing you really have to pay attention to is upgrading your headquarters as your airline grows and occasionally checking in on employee salaries to see how they compare to the average.

In order to make all of this work a game reset will be required. I'm just letting everyone know ahead of time so it's not a surprise. This reset will probably happen sometime next week, I'll give everyone an updated ETA when I have it.

I might try to squeeze aircraft leasing in before the reset as well, but we'll see how it goes.

I figured executive boards are usually very small, 6-12 people and don't need reserves.

Edit: Should all be working now, but only if you reset your airline. Happiness is affected by salary and reserve level, and attrition is affected by happiness. As of now the industry averages are very sensitive, that's because not all airlines are represented in the average calculations. Once the game reset takes place it'll be much more accurate.

Right now none of these numbers do anything, if you have low happiness it will have no effect. Tomorrow I will work on implementing the 'Employee Training' cost, which will be directly affected by your attrition rate.

Okay, the game reset is currently underway. I have several things to update and add to the game before it goes live, so it could be a long maintenance period (possibly ~ 24 hrs). There are certain things that I cannot do if people are logged in and using the system, so I have to put it in maintenance mode.

What's new?
Employees will be fully functional. Manage reserves and salary to keep employees happy. Low happiness rates will lead to higher attrition rates, which leads to turn-over and additional training costs for hiring new employees.
Headquarters Building - Upgrade your HQ to larger sizes as your airline grows. If your HQ is too small, happiness of office employees will drop.
Realistic starting options - Choose from a variety of starting cash options, each with their own repayment terms.
Aircraft maintenance cost - Daily maintenance cost will be implemented. Older aircraft will have higher daily maintenance costs. Full-blown maintenance functionality such as maintenance checks and scheduling maintenance will NOT be included in this update.
Aircraft insurance cost - Weekly insurance costs will be implemented. Full functionality will come at a later time, for now you will have no control over types of insurance, coverage policies, etc.

Great, nice update. Of you don't mind me asking, could you alaberate more on what can't be done with people logged in? I'd always wondered why that had to happen.

Well, there's nothing from a technical standpoint that strictly cannot be done if people are logged in (at least I can't think of anything), but if people are using the system at the same time I'm trying to reset things and test the game, add new features etc, it can get messy. Basically there's a high potential of data corruption. If someone uses a feature that is not finished yet, it can mess up their airline's data, insert incomplete data into tables, and so forth.

Technically maintenance mode doesn't actually log anyone out, it just prevents access to the system.
