Political Restrictions
#1
I appreciate the need for new political restrictions; but as a Southern African player this poses significant operational challenges.

  • Will technical stops be permitted under the new formula? We would like to serve the US - but most flights and ranges will require a technical stop
  • Will fifth-freedom routes be permitted. Southern Africa has lower than average load factors, and therefore some routes such as JNB-SYD-MEL are not economically viable or doable in their own right. Will fifth freedom routes be allowed? South African Airways, a real-life airline sells tickets such as ACC-IAD and Senegal -IAD for instance. Will we able to do such routes?
  • Will it eventually be possible to invest in subsidiaries in other countries?

Other than JNB-SYD-MEL, which is unrealistic since it’s a domestic flight, the rest of it will probably come at some point.

I would like to do technical/refueling stops at some point.

The thing about fifth freedom flights - how exactly are those allowed? Do the airlines have to apply for them on specific routes? Are there costs involved? Are some countries excluded from fifth freedoms? I just don't really know how to program fifth freedom flights as it seems they operate on a case by case basis and how would I replicate that in-game?

Good Day,

Many airlines operate these routes - for instance, Turkish Airlines, Qatar Airlines operate domestically Hub-JNB-DUR. Most don't have the right to sell independently the JNB-DUR.

Unknown98; will refuelling stops not be included? Concerned as a South African player that this will limit drastically routes avaliable.

The definition of a fifth freedom flight is the ability to sell tickets on all legs, which would include the JNB-DUR route. I don't know what freedom this JNB-DUR flight is, but that is allowed - it's a much different feature though.

Refueling stops will eventually be added I think. Just get A340-500s for now Tongue
