I remembered that usually in BBCode you can put '=(width)x(height)', for example '=1200x400' into an 'img' tag to scale the image, so I typed it in like that, and instead of the image being displayed the actual text with the image link appeared. So I tried to do it the proper way, through the 'full edit' mode, put in the dimensions - and it doesn't work. If size is included in the img tag, the forum doesn't recognize it as an img tag.

Are you sure? I just tested it and it worked for me. See the post I did it on:

Back on the CA forums I would notice that sometimes this feature wouldn't work. I never figured out why.

I typed in the scaling part of the tag exactly like that and it didn't work. Maybe it will next time, I guess.

Nah, on the CA forums I definitely had 1200x400 images, that sort of thing...I guess I'll try that then

The max size the [img] tag is allowing on the forums right now is 999x999.

I'm not sure. Keep in mind the CA forums were a really outdated version of myBB, so that may have something to do with it.
I've noticed these forums will automatically resize an image if the width is greater than the width of the forums as well.
