Part swapping certainly happens, mostly with engines. But it almost is always within the airline. Or in the case of aviation within a service company.
That being said, you always need all the parts of an aircraft to fly it. (Well, mostly.
) You are swapping a part so you aren't making money so I don't see the advantage for the broke airline. The way you could make money is the engine the engine you have has less hours then the one you are receiving. But then it cost more to maintain that engine that you received so it all gets negated.
I think the idea is interesting but between implementing it (which would probably be extremely complicated if at all possible) and being a little too much micromanaging I don't see it happening. Part of the beauty of this game is you don't need to pay attention to every little detail.
