Depends on the maintenance.
There are regularly scheduled things, like Stefan said above - A, B, C, and D checks. A checks take about 5 hours and they don't check very much - every 750 hours. B-checks take 24 hours and are more intense, I believe C-checks take a week, and are about once a year, and D-checks take about a month or so, since they're basically dismantling the whole plane and putting it back together again, but they're very infrequent, probably 6 years for the average airliner.
For unscheduled things (eg bird strikes, etc.) that depends on what happened.
