  Time Display
Posted by: Frenchie - 10-10-2017, 12:15 PM - Forum: Suggestions - Replies (13)

Even though I know this is more of a preferential issue, as it stands the route system will display the time in military fashion (with a 24 hour clock) whilst the 'active flight' page displays them in AM/PM format.

For one this very confusing but also quite difficult to manage in my opinion.

If there are no objections, I would recommend synchronising both pages to the 24-hour system along with the 'local time' display on the airport page.

[Reverted] Multiple Routes with 1 Aircraft
Posted by: Unknown98 - 10-09-2017, 07:57 PM - Forum: Game Updates - Replies (19)

Alright so we're still having issues with this multi routes thing. (For once even I am also seeing the issues with my own airline, lol)

For now I will have to revert back to the old system while I try to re-write the code to enable muti-route support.

Keep in mind you can still use a form of multi-routes even with the old system, as long as each route starts from a different airport. For example you cannot do:

LAX-HND-LAX
LAX-KIX-LAX

But you CAN do:

HND-LAX-KIX
KIX-LAX-HND

Same routes but in a different order. Get creative with it and you can probably make some things work.

Support for multiple routes being assigned to the same aircraft has now been implemented. It was actually possible before but was not "officially" supported, meaning in some cases routes would not fly in the intended order or would be skipped entirely.

The easiest way for me to explain this is to show an example. I have 1 aircraft, a 787-8 that I use on a LAX-SYD-DXB route, and back. Because routes with more than 2 stops cannot exceed 24 hours in length, I cannot create one route like follows: LAX-SYD-DXB-SYD-LAX.

But I CAN do the following:

LAX-SYD-DXB
DXB-SYD-LAX

As long as you pay careful attention to the arrival and departure times, you can set up routes like this. In my case, I depart LAX at 23:20 and arrive in DXB at 13:15. Then, the second route departs from DXB at 14:20 and arrives at LAX at 10:16. Of course all of this is over the course of several days. These are very long-haul routes.

Then, because I had even more time to kill (arriving back at LAX at 10:16 and not departing again until 23:20) I created ANOTHER route:

LAX-DFW-LAX

This route departs at 12:45 and arrives back in LAX at 19:22.

So I now have a nicely organized route system all assigned to a single aircraft.

There is one caveat - This will NOT work with routes that have already been created. Only routes that are created from this point onwards. This is because the system needs to know the initial departure time of the first leg of each route, and prior to today that information was not stored in the database.

  Subsidies
Posted by: ALT2870 - 10-09-2017, 06:32 PM - Forum: Suggestions - Replies (16)

Another follow up.

Here is my pitch for subsidies:

Start-Up:
Somewhere under airline management have option to click on saying "Start New Subsidy".

That would take you to a new page with the same options as starting a new airline minus finance options which would be on the next page.

The next page would bring you to finance options. First would be the flat rate start up fee. Along with that would be an additional cost if you start up in a foreign country. Then you can choose how you want to put money in. Is it from your other airline, or do you go with a loan? If possible, an option with both. (Maybe a limit on how much you transfer over.)

Running:
Once you create your subsidy, it's like starting fresh. No airplanes, no gates. You start over. You have the option of sending planes from the parent company if so desired for a fee. The parent company can also give more money but only so much per month. As well, the parent company gets charged a certain rate per month for the subsidy.

I feel the best way to switch between airlines would be to have a button on the top right that says "Switch Airlines" or something similar. That drops you into a page where you can choose the airline.

Hope that makes sense.

  Airline Tiers
Posted by: ALT2870 - 10-09-2017, 06:12 PM - Forum: Suggestions - Replies (1)

Following up from political restrictions.

This was always an issue in CA and will eventually be an issue here. When an airline gets big, the game gets too easy. I would like to propose something called "Airline Tiers".

The way it would work is that as soon as your rating reaches 100, you get pushed into the next tier. This happens over and over again. Each higher tier becomes harder and harder. How? That's what would need to be figured out. One idea would be it cost more to run a subsidy

There you go, not sure what the game can handle but I wanted to throw the idea out there.

  Live weather conditions
Posted by: Unknown98 - 10-09-2017, 03:55 AM - Forum: Game Updates - Replies (19)

Live weather conditions have been added to the airport information page. Eventually weather will affect flight delays, but as of right now that is not implemented.

Because this feature was just added, some airports will still show "undefined" as the weather status. As the game goes through and updates the airports, it will begin to define the actual weather conditions.

Due to limitations in the API I cannot update weather for all 1,600+ airports simultaneously. I am limited to batches of 60. The game checks weather conditions every 5 minutes 2 minutes for up to 60 airports. Only airports with weather data older than 20 minutes will be updated. Airports with the oldest weather data will be updated first.

Essentially what that means is that updates to weather conditions are a constantly rolling thing, there is no set time when the weather will update for a particular airport. Once 20 minutes has passed since the last weather update, the airport will be re-queued for another update.

Some time soon I will probably update the layout of the airport information page to make it nicer and flow a bit better.

  Weather delays
Posted by: Unknown98 - 10-08-2017, 01:46 AM - Forum: Game Discussions - Replies (23)

I wanted to start a conversation about weather delays just to see what kind of ideas or things we can come up with. Weather statuses for each airport are currently in the works and the next step is to make those statuses affect flights into/out of the airports.

Probably the biggest issue is the stack up of delays, for example if flight 1 is delayed 30 mins then flights 2+ will also be pushed back 30 mins (unless you have extra turnaround time or leave extra time between flights). I want it to be realistic but not overly complicated or micro-management-y

  Political restrictions?

For example the airline is based in the United States and it can fly from there and back.

What I mean is, a airline from the USA shouldn't be able to have to right to operate from Dubai to like Sydney. Unless if you can implement some kind of deal that we can sign (contracts) but obviously we have to pay a certain amount to the contractor every week or so when the contract is signed?

  Maintenance/Insurance
Posted by: PolarMonkey - 10-06-2017, 05:08 AM - Forum: Bug Reports - Replies (1)

I was just looking at the financial page, and noticed that there were a couple things wrong with what was displayed.

1) One plane (Boeing 737-500) that I had bought, reconfigured and renamed on Oct. 1 is still showing up as NX0000, but when I click on the registration on the financial page, it brings me to the correct page for the plane with the correct registration in the description.
2) A Douglas DC-8-72 that I purchased on Oct. 3 was not charged any insurance or maintenance costs.

That's all that I have noticed.  Let me know if I can give you any more info on this.

  Aircraft Buy Orders
Posted by: WhiteFright - 10-04-2017, 07:06 PM - Forum: Suggestions - Replies (6)

Just got this idea from browsing the Steam Community Market. Would it be possible to place a buy order for a number of aircraft from the Used Market with a set price?

For example, I want to buy 2 757-200's and pay $35mil each for both. The moment one pops up on the used market, and if the price is $35mil or less, my airline is in possession of it.

It would save a lot of grief from other airlines "sniping" planes.
