Leasing Limits Changed to Value Instead of Quantity
Posted by: Unknown98 - 06-07-2018, 08:58 PM - Forum: Game Updates - Replies (3)

Implemented per sw889432's suggestion on the issue tracker: https://issuetracker.airlineenterprise.c...issues/143

A change has been made to the way your lease limit is calculated. Previously you were limited to leasing a certain quantity of aircraft. Now your limit is based off total value of the aircraft rather then a fixed quantity. This will make gameplay fairer and eliminate the advantage of starting your airline using only long-haul aircraft. You can now lease a few long-haul aircraft or many regional aircraft, or a mixture of both.

Further changes to the credit rating formula are on the horizon to prevent it from jumping around instantly as soon as you lease an aircraft. This will allow you more creative freedom when configuring your airline from the start. For now, your airline's credit rating will remain at CCC+ during your first day of operation - regardless of anything you do.

Below are the loan limits (number of loans, credit limit, and interest rate) as well as the aircraft lease limits for each rating:

AAA: 6 loans | $500,000,000 @ 1.5% APR | $200,000,000
AA+: 5 loans | $400,000,000 @ 2% APR | $85,000,000
A: 4 loans | $250,000,000 @ 4% APR | $40,000,000
A-: 4 loans | $200,000,000 @ 4.5% APR | $25,000,000
BBB+: 3 loans | $180,000,000 @ 5% APR | $15,000,000
BB+: 3 loans | $150,000,000 @ 6% APR | $10,000,000
B: 2 loans | $110,000,000 @ 8% APR | $5,000,000
B-: 2 loans | $100,000,000 @ 8% APR | $4,000,000
CCC+: 2 loans | $90,000,000 @ 9% APR | $2,500,000
CC: 1 loan | $80,000,000 @ 10% APR | $1,500,000
C: 1 loan | $80,000,000 @ 10% APR | $1,000,000

  A Trip Report I Guess?
Posted by: WhiteFright - 06-07-2018, 03:00 AM - Forum: Off-Topic - Replies (4)

Read Unk's trip report from last year and got inspired. Anyway, time to get into the thread Tongue

Having been a huge fan of the professional CS:GO scene for a while, and having my birthday fall a week before the ELeague Major in Boston in January, it was foretold that I should attend. However, I was living in Arizona at that time going to university, so flying was really the only way to reasonably get basically from coast-to-coast. I booked on Southwest since they have some of the better frequencies out of PHX. Unfortunately, Southwest doesn't fly from PHX to BOS non-stop, so I booked a flight that was PHX-MDW-BOS. Now, on the day of the flight, my alarm didn't go off and so I got to PHX about 20 minutes too late after being stuck in traffic in Phoenix (not something I'm used to as I usually fly early in the morning). The first thing I did after getting to the airport was going to the ticket desk and explaining want happened to the agent. She put me on a flight that was taking off about 2 later, but the routing was PHX-LAS-CMH-BOS with a change of planes at LAS with an hour and a half in the airport, during which I paid $20 for a sandwich, chips, and a drink for lunch (ouch).

Both planes on the outbound flight were 737-800's, which are my favorite planes in Southwest's fleet as for whatever reason their 737-700s feel far too cramped for me. Not a whole lot to report on these flights as they were fairly routine for me (other than being one of the last to board due to the check-in process they use to decide boarding priority since I missed my original flight I was checked in for) since I fly Southwest a lot (I flew them around 8 times in the past year). I did capture a photo of a Delta A350 at CMH though, albeit blurry because of the poor lighting.

Now as for the Eleague Major itself, it was so much fun. Way more fun than any other live sporting event I've attended. I was going to the event by myself, although I hung out with the same crowd of people both days I attended because the CS:GO subreddit had a discord server for those attending, and we all hung out. Even had SirScoots, a bit of a legend in the CS community, chill and watch the games with us for a couple of hours. The energy in the arena was insane and I highly recommend attending an esports event if you get the chance. Here's a clip from Cloud9, an American team making the playoffs of a CSGO Major for the first time with this roster, defeating SK Gaming, considered one of the best teams in the world, to get to the Grand Final match of the tournament.

(EDIT: The video is having trouble playing back on my browser so here's a direct link if you have the same issue: https://youtu.be/u_Av_6UUSgA)
Anyway, after all the fun it was time to head back to PHX via MDW. I was pleasantly surprised when one of WN's few 737 MAX 8's taxied to the gate at BOS. I had fully expected a 737-700 or -800.

The flight from BOS to MDW was amazing and by far the best Southwest flight I've been on, not only due to the excitement of riding on a practically brand new airplane, but the staff took it a step above Southwest's usual friendliness and it was a really enjoyable experience all around. I got an amazing picture of the MAX's wing with the sunset somewhere over New York state.

Unfortunately, it seemed my luck ended there since I only had about a half hour at Midway, where I bought dinner and hurried to the gate to board the plane back to PHX, a boring old cramped 737-700. I could tell the particular -700 was an older one since it had the Canyon Blue livery still, and the interior wasn't that great, but still the flight wasn't particularly terrible despite this and we landed about 3 hours later with no issues in PHX.

This is my first attempt at making one of these, so constructive criticism is welcome Tongue

  Flights not scheduling or flying
Posted by: Jamesthomeson - 06-04-2018, 05:54 PM - Forum: Support - Replies (31)

For some reason all of my flights have stop scheduling or only half of a route will schedule.

One of my routes is SEA-LAX-IAH-LAX-SEA-BOI. I have made sure to lease gates at all of the airports, the times are correct, and the total route time is under 24 hours, so I was expecting it to work but what happened was the route would only be scheduled for the SEA-LAX-IAH leg. Two hours after the expected departure of the IAH-LAX leg, the aircraft was still at IAH. This was also long after the turn around time.

At first it was just this route but then all my routes starting scheduling like this and now all my routes are not scheduling at all.

  Countering Corruption
Posted by: Contaional - 06-04-2018, 04:15 PM - Forum: Off-Topic - Replies (2)

Government of India just announced they are taking the 1000 rupee and 500 rupee currency notes off the market. These are the highest value currency notes in the country. All the black money stored at anyone's house would be in these notes only. From midnight today (in 2 hours) these notes have no value.

  Global Airways
Posted by: POTKC - 05-30-2018, 07:50 PM - Forum: Roleplay - Replies (26)

Introduction
After leaving the airline business for over two years, the Global Group has returned to the industry, founding Global Airways in New York John F Kennedy International Airport. Rather than, like most US legacy airlines, complain about 'unfair' competition from Gulf carriers while actually failing to provide a comparable standard of service, Global Airways will focus on outperforming the competition. The end goal of Global Airways is to provide the most luxurious service in the western hemisphere, gaining market share by being of superior quality rather than by begging for help from the government.

Corporate Information
Legal Name - Global Airways, Inc
Corporate Ownership - 70% Global Group, 23% Citibank Group, 7% Other Shareholders
Head Office - 3 World Trade Center, Manhattan, New York City

Note: The Global Group and Global Airways are in no way affiliated with the much more recently-founded Global Group Alliance

Fleet
Figures represent planned numbers, not current fleet. Right click on images and press 'open in new tab' to view an HD version of liveries and seat maps.

The backbone of the Global Airways fleet, the Boeing 777-300ER is capable of flying to any continent except Oceania direct from New York City. The type currently operates a wide variety of routes for Global Airways. From shorter-range transatlantic rotations to Paris, to longer flights to Dubai, all the way to super-long-haul to Xiamen, our customers will find the -300ER to be an excellent aircraft in Global First, Business, or Voyage class as they travel over oceans in luxury.

The C&C configured 777-300ERs are used by Global Airways on routes to Canada and the Caribbean, where the amenities required for maximum comfort are not the same as on long-range flights. Seat size and pitch in Business and Voyage classes is the same, ensuring a consistently pleasant experience, length of flight notwithstanding. These aircraft are configured with C&C First instead of Global First.

The 777-200LR is a versatile aircraft, used by Global Airways on a wide range of routes. Its impressive range allows it to operate where the -300ER cannot go, such as on direct flights to Singapore and Brisbane (the first ever direct link between Australia and the US East Coast!), while the lower capacity and excellent fuel efficiency also make it an ideal choice for lower-demand routes. Our customers will also enjoy 100% hard-product commonality between both Global Airways' 777 variants, helping us maintain a consistently excellent level of service on all flights.

The Airbus A340-500 has consistently excelled in its role as the longest-range commercial aircraft ever built. Its ability to fly farther than any other airliner has allowed it to fly some of the longest flights in the world, and Global Airways continues this legacy, maintaining a small number of A340-500s for flights that are impossible even for the 777-200LR, such as New York to Sydney, Canberra, and Jakarta. These aircraft have ge same hard-product as the 777s, ensuring that some of the longest flights in the world will be some of the most pleasant.

As the newest variant of the Queen of the Skies, the 747-8 is the largest US-made airliner, and a perfect choice for Global Airways on high-capacity routes requiring something larger than the 777-300ER. Featuring the same hard-product as all other aircraft in the fleet but a wider fuselage, the type provides unrivaled luxury in all service classes, pampering customers with its smooth ride, quiet engines, and iconic presence in aviation history.

The 747 can be seen at all four main OASIS hubs, and can be seen at high-demand destinations, such as Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Dubai.

Boeing 777-200LR

Nicknamed the "Worldliner", the 777-200LR is one of the longest range aircraft in the world, and OASIS takes full advantage of this! With flights to places such as Toronto, London, and Paris from Australia, OASIS doesn't let this aircraft's stunning capability go to waste! This aircraft features six first class suites, 24 Business class, 24 OASIS Premium, 18 ExtraComfort+, and 176 Traveller class seats. The Worldliner can be seen at OASIS' most far-flung destinations, such as Toronto and Dallas.

Airbus A340-500

The longest-range aircraft in current commercial service, the A340-500 is an older model, however it offers unparalleled ability for long-haul flying. OASIS has leased these aircraft from Etihad Airways, and offers three seating classes: 12 First class suites, offering head-height doors and lie-flat beds; 28 Business class seats, featuring flat beds; and 200 Traveller class seats, all with on-demand entertainment from OASIS' award-winning entertainment system. The A340 can be found at the farthest-flung OASIS destinations, such as New York.

OASIS plans to replace the A340-500 with the Airbus A350-900ULR in the shortest possible time frame, as the A350 provides greater passenger comfort and fuel efficiency. The A350 also allows for nonstop flights from Sydney to London, which will be a first for any airline. OASIS also plans on using the A350 ULR for routes from Sydney to Paris, Frankfurt, and Moscow, as well as to extend the scope of North American flights to include cities such as Washington DC, Boston, and Newark.

Boeing 787-8

The Boeing 787-8, otherwise known as the Dreamliner, is a luxurious aircraft that OASIS features prominently on short-haul and low-demand routes. This aircraft will play an instrumental role in having a very large worldwide route network, as it will provide OASIS with a lower capaicity aircraft with a long range to operate routes such as Sydney-Calcutta. The smallest variant of the Dreamliner features four classes: 18 OASIS Business, 28 OASIS Premium, 48 ExtraComfort+, and 88 Traveller seats. The 787-8 can be seen at low-demand long-haul routes, such as Islamabad, or high-demand short-haul routes, such as Makassar.

Boeing 757-200

The Boeing 757-200 is an older aircraft model, however, it is extremely useful for OASIS' lower-demand medium-haul routes, such as Sydney to Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The 757-200 features 16 Business class seats, 45 ExtraComfort+ seats, and 108 Traveller class seats. Since these aircraft are leased from United airlines (further examples may be purchased), they do not feature the closed suites in business class, and there is slightly lower legroom in Traveller and ExtraComfort+. However, once OASIS purchases some of these aircraft, this problem will be remedied. The 757 can be seen at high-demand short-haul destinations such as Sydney to Perth, or lower demand medium haul destinations, such as Yogyakarta.

Boeing 737-800

The Boeing 737-800 is one of the most comfortable short-haul aircraft, and is employed on a variety of domestic routes for the moment, although will be introduced on international runs shortly. The 737-800 features 12 OASIS Premium seats, 18 ExtraComfort+ seats, and 114 Traveller seats. OASIS also operates the Boeing 737 MAX 8, which is a more modern version of the aircraft, configured in the same way, that is quieter and has a longer range. The 737-800 is the workhorse of the short-haul fleet, and operates half of the flights between Sydney and Brisbane and Brisbane and Melbourne. The -800 also serves many short-haul routes, such as Perth to Port Hedland, and Sydney to Adelaide.

OASIS is currently leasing one Boeing 737-800 from Great British Air on a temporary schedule, while the airline waits for the ability to lease more of its own aircraft. The leased aircraft is currently configured in the standard 737-800 configuration, and is operated between Perth/Port Hedland and Perth/Yogyakarta.

Airbus A320-200

The A320-200 was recently leased from Olympus Airways to temporarily increase capacity on high-demand domestic routes. It will be returned shortly, once a Boeing 737 MAX 8 can be acquired to replace it. Currently, the A320 flies from Sydney to Melbourne 4 times per day. It has been configured with OASIS' industry-leading seats, including 12 OASIS Premium seats, 36 ExtraComfort+ seats, including but not limited to Bulkheads and Exit rows, and 78 Traveller seats. All seats feature OASIS' industry-leading legroom and seat width. The A320 is equipped with the OASIS On-Demand system for your enjoyment.

Boeing 737-700

The Boeing 737-700, or "Baby Boeing", as many affectionately call it, is one of the regional workhorses in the OASIS fleet. The 737-700 offers three classes of service. There are 8 OASIS Premium seats, with the extra-special 42 inches of legroom. Then, there are 12 ExtraComfort+ seats, made up of the exit row and the bulkhead row. Finally, there are 82 Traveller class seats. All seats feature OASIS On-Demand, and industry-leading space and comfort. OASIS operates this pint-sized Boeing on smaller-demand routes, such as Sydney-Lae, and at lower-demand times on high-demand routes, such as Sydney to Perth.

Embraer ERJ-140

This aircraft is the smallest currently in the OASIS fleet, and offers unparalleled regional comfort. This aircraft has 6 ExtraComfort+ seats and 35 Traveller class seats. Overhead TV screens show movies and TV shows on flights over 40 minutes, and a moving map is available on shorter flights. The ERJ-140 can be seen on the lower-demand short routes, such as Sydney to Launceston and Sydney to Ayers Rock.

  Airline Logo on airport page
Posted by: Dokhu - 05-27-2018, 03:36 AM - Forum: Off-Topic - Replies (9)

Hi.

I am the one who suggested placing the airline logo on the airport page but I see that the logos do not have the same size and some of them have a  lack of clarity. I believe that until we find the way for all the logos to have the same size and shape this improvement should be eliminated because the page looks really ugly in spite it looks good at some point.

In fact the logo and the livery must be approved before being placed in the game because someone could do something obscene.

  Slots System
Posted by: Unknown98 - 05-26-2018, 06:53 PM - Forum: Game Discussions - Replies (25)

I am in the process of re-coding the landing script to attempt to fix the flight duplication issue we're having. When I do this I may get rid of the gate usage system, that assigns an aircraft to a particular gate upon landing (and penalizes you if you do not have an open gate)

The reason for that is I am thinking of moving to a slot based system instead of a "1 gate for every aircraft on-ground" system, as it's very hard to keep up with aircraft locations and such. I cannot constantly update aircraft locations, I can only update them every 5 mins (or when you load the fleet page, for instance, it will update locations). So if an aircraft takes off at 12:00, the location may not actually be updated until 12:05. Lets say you have an aircraft that lands at 12:04 - the game will penalize you for landing without an available gate because the first aircraft is still using the gate - even though it took off 4 minutes ago, the location was not yet updated.

So a real-time gate usage system is just not feasible I'm afraid since there is no way to make it 100% accurate.

If slots are implemented how do you guys suggest that type of a system would work?
